Adding a Start8 shortcut to Objectdock
Hi, is it possible to remove the start button from objectdock and then add a shortcut to start8 instead. I've tried but can't seem to figure it out.
Hi, is it possible to remove the start button from objectdock and then add a shortcut to start8 instead. I've tried but can't seem to figure it out.
You can right-click an icon in ObjectDock and select remove. If you have Start8 installed, that icon will open the Start8 menu in ObjectDock. How are you wanting to open it?
Thanks, I can add and remove icons. The problem now is that I was hoping to add one for start8, a regular start icon opens up the full W8 menu screen but I don't want that. I was hoping to set it up so that it opened up in the same way that the start8 menu does when the start8 button is clicked on the taskbar instead of switching screens. I have both programs installed.
You should be able to. You need to make sure the Start8 configuration is set to open the start menu and not the start screen.
I've added a new blank shortcut to objectdock and clicked browse, navigated to the start8 folder and then selected the start8 exe but now when I click the icon it doesn't open.
Not quite sure where I'm going wrong.
Yep that's it, I've found now, by following your instructions, that it will only work if start8 is configured to use the windows 7 style,
Working from objectdock,
However it doesn't work when you select the windows 8 style. This screenshot is having clicked the start button on the taskbar,
Click the icon on the dock and it automatically switches to the full W8 menu screen. I was hoping it would open up the start menu like the third screenshot but it doesn't look like that is possible.
I suffer from the same problem, and the tips don't solve it. I use my computer mainly for working, so I put the dock where I can most easily access it. That is the bottom of the main screen. But as it would be covering parts of the desktop or the office software I use, I set the dock to "Autohide". I tried setting up the dock in several other ways, but this is the method that best reflects my workflow.
Problem is, in my spare time, I also play video games. And in some videogames, the mouse cursor is used to reposition the camera of the game. If the mouse cursor touches the edge of the screen, the dock comes up in front of the game, which is really annoying and can be game breaking. For instance, in order to play Dota2 smoothly, I have to shut down Object Dock.
So I would also prefer a hotkey or a means to configure Object Dock (e.g. "don't pop up dock while in DirectX mode").
ect Dock (e.g. "don't pop up dock while in DirectX mode").
