objects

I am a newbie at Object Desktop.
Is there a way to import/add an object (ie bmp or ping file) from several different downloaded themes into a theme you are creating or modifying? I'm sure this is trivial but I cant seem to figure out how to do it.
I can get objects from a given theme that I have "applied", but if there is an icon-object that I would like to use (ie an animated hard drive icon) from another theme, I can't seem to get to it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JB

Load the other theme (don't forget to save Your theme), right click the object in question and export it. You can then easily import it into Your own theme.

JB, i assume that you are refering about DesktopX.

Yes, you can make your own themes with your objects or objects made by other skinners. You will know: if you use objects created by others, you will post credits (or thanks to the other creators), or, oat least, don't say that you are the original creator.

You can find a excellent tutorial about creating objects and desktopx themes at https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/docs/gettingstarted.html (the official desktopx website.

It's not hard to create objects, you only need to make 'some' clicks (not programing, but there's scripting for enhanced animations). The hard work is to 'design' these objects.

If you play with the objects Properties of some of the themes you downloaded, you can discover how the more expert skinners made the objects. The best theme creators for desktopx are Boxxi (very professional, it have a big amount of imagination and experience), Frogboy (one of the developers and always try of use diverse technics creating themes), Mormegil (maybe the skinner that popularized desktopx; it have good tutorials about desktopx on their website)

WOW is right!
Thanks everyone for all your help and soooo fast.
Isn't the NET wonerful!
Of course I would give proper attribution to any icons/objects etc. that I used.
That's only fair and proper.
