21:9 monitors

LG has a reasonably priced 25 inch, 21:9 (2560 x 1080) LED monitor, at $259.99 at Best Buy.  Anyone using an ultra-wide screen?  Do Stardock apps play well with the winder image?

Anyone using an ultra-wide screen?
End of quote

I have a Phillips 29" ultra-wide screen and don't really notice any difference to a standard wide-screen.  When I first read up on the ultra-wide screen idea it was mentioned that while videos would appear crisper, better at their native resolution of 21.9, other items may seem out of proportion due to the "lack of height' when compared to regular screens.  However, I do not find this to be so, perhaps because I am so used to it now... had it almost a year now.

As for Stardock apps, it's pretty much the same, I've not noticed any real difference and everything applies as it did before.

Thanks for the input.  I had picked up a 39 " 1920x1080 screen for $278 and this 21:9 screen sounded very tgempting.  I guess I'lll decide in the next few days.

@WOM, you have a 39 inch ultra-wide?

What problem are you having? If the res is 2560 x 1080, is it a stretching aspect ratio issue? Video is capped at 1920x1080 so unless one is made with stretching in mind, I'm sure they will look odd.

I've made a few with multi monitor use in mind, can you try them and let me know if they are usable? I don't have a monitor with that aspect ration but was thinking about getting one.

The 39" monitor died under warranty so I returned it for store creedit.  It was fine for much of what I use but too blurry due to low pixel density for musch reading.  I am now pricing some ultrawide and ultra hd (2560x1440), for possible purchase.  If price was no object I'd stick to the 16:9 ration rather than an ultra wide but it is so I may fall back to just ultra wide.
