best way/program to re-colorize images?

I was wondering if there is an easy way to recolorize/change colors for images.. Are there certain options or programs that do it for you or is it all manual editing? I do have adobe photoshop 7.

thanks...

image > adjustments

beyond that, you can use adjustment layers and a brush.

the best way i have found is either make a new color layer and put it over top of the image u wish to colorize

or go to image-adjustments-hue/saturation

Photoshop is a very expensive peice of equipment that is designed to do hundreds of differend jobs. It is complicated, but once you have it you can use those skills to do a lot of diverse things. Many people consider using it a pain, but I consider it an education.

You can use adjustment layers as I said above, and set them to 'color' or one of the others to get the results you need, depending on the situation. Whatever you do don't paint on the same layer as the original. Adjustment layers will help you paint only the colors, without painting over detail. Look up 'adjustment layers' in the help file.

For doing a full recolour in variying shades of a single colour, I like to convert the image to greyscale (Or use desaturate. Greyscale gives better results though), then back to RGB, and then use the colorize or hue/sat option.
