assigning icon to object with desktopx?

I did a search and didn't really find anything so here's my question: I want to create shortcuts on my desktop to programs (similar to the launch menu). When I create an object, the icon can only be .ico, .png, .bmp, or .tga. Most of my programs have the icons in the .exe. How can I assign an icon from an .exe file to the object on my desktop? Thanks for any help!

you can use drag and drop for this. use explorer, find your .exe drag the exe to your deskX desktop and it will make an icon for you. I hope that was what you were asking

When I drag and drop a file to the desktop, nothing happens. Nothing is created and I don't even get a menu when I right click drag it.

in the DX config menus, try enabling the option to hide desktop icons first. Look around in the config area. I can do this with no problem, but I don't know specifically which option you have to config. I can't load DX at the moment, but I know it's in there somewhere.
