Shirley Temple Has Passed On

The child actress, Congresswoman and Ambassador gone at 85

I just heard these sad tidings on CNN.

Shirley Temple (Shirley Temple Black) has died at home due to natural causes. She was 85 years of age.

Her career was incredible, with a long list of accomplishments. A great, adorable child actress (leading the box office at age 7 and that lasted for 3 years) who graduated on to a full and successful life in acting, followed by a career in Congress and as an Ambassador for the U.S. She was a breast cancer survivor, as well. She was married twice and had three children, one of whom died at age 45.

She was America's darling...

Rest In Peace, Shirley.

More importantly, she didn't go to pot when the fame hit home, unlike many child stars who let fame go to their heads and turned to alcohol and/or drugs as part of the lifestyle.

Yes, there was much to admire about Shirley Temple.

Her Mum was responsible for that... kept her very grounded... and protected her well from being chewed up by the studios... a few of the Mum's these days should take notes...  Bieber for one... Lohan... the list goes on...

That's very true. "Family" meant a good deal more than PR pranks and "market share" in those days.
