I'll need to learn Japanese....

Some months ago I got an email from a Japanese magazine requesting permission to include some of my skins. The mag was 'Windows 100%'.
I said 'OK', provided they sent me a copy of the mag.
Today, postie arrived....issue 11, and there on page 53 was my WMP skin, properly credited to me, along with several others' WMP skins.
Included with the mag are 2 cd's....I'll check 'em out to see what's there....but from what dealings I have had with them so far, I'd say that you should have no qualms about consenting to having your work included on their magazine.
Now, if only I could read Japanese....

OK, to qualify things slightly, by the time you get to page 103...you'll find a few pictorials of semi-clad young ladies posed reasonably 'modestly', but nude/semi-nude, none the less, so if you have any qualms about that and being included/associated then you 'may' want to reconsider.
[Didn't bother me....I'm a 'grown-up']...

japanese.about.com has a bunch of good lessons. If you can get the characters into a text box, you could use babelfish to translate them.

congrats on the spotlight. Good to hear they are honest.

Paul, that's 'IP!' Magazine, isn't it?
Honz and I got a Winamp skin in an issue of that in 2000, as did a few of Dangeruss's and Marek Wojtal's.
And,as they did with you, they sent me a copy as promised, so I too can back you up when you say that there's no problems about letting them use your skins.

And as for those semi nudes girls, well, that's my fav part of the mag (Hehe, you'll find more of those pics on CD2 as well *cough*)........

Hippy....yes, you're right....CD2 does have the odd girl or ten...along with mpegs that would be best described as 'R-rated', as against 'X-rated'...
What I found interesting was how an English-Language OS 'Exploder' was having trouble handling the CD directory tree.....folder names that wouldn't log correctly, or at all....'tis the first time I've tried a non-English file system.
I think there might be a few hundred meg of data that doesn't log correctly...

Jafo: What OS are you using? Many of the cd's I burned on my old HP burner won't read well on 2000, and yet they read fine on 98se. If you can't read it on one, try the other.

werewolf...yes but it's the WinAMP skin that's interesting...

baker....using XP...I transferred the CD contents to the HD and renamed some of the folders so the contents would log and view correctly.....Powerdesk and ACDSee both otherwise had a hard time 'seeing' them.
Found 'all' the content....I just couldn't log it to tell that I was seeing 600-odd meg, but it was there...
