Is this possible?

I would like to put the system buttons down the side of the frames instead of in the title bar. Is this possible? Also, would the buttons be hidden to people who have windowblinds set to not display the sides of the frames when maximized?

I intend to see for myself this evening, but I would appreciate it if someone already knows.

Also, is there a way of making window frames and the task bar partially transparent?

I know this is possible because I've seen skins with this setup. Unfortunately, I can't remember a single one Sorry.

Look for the skin Desert Rose, I think it has side buttons.

I'm mostly asking because most of the basic variations on a skin have been done a thousand times each, I want to try something different.

I just did a search on Desert Rose, no results.

Have you tried a skin with side buttons? They look pretty cool, but I found them really annoying to use. You should try one first to see what I mean.
Does anyone know if you can have animated title buttons in WB? I have made some cool animated buttons for one of my skins, but I don't know if they can be used.
Any idea anyone?

I just loaded it up, but I dont think the buttons are animated, just mouseovers. I will rip it apart in skin studio and have a closer look. What a great skin though! I love the sounds too.
I am currently working on a skin that has an animated title bar, and that has been lots of fun!

Yeah, the personal icon is one of the perks of being an admin here. Alexandrie makes them for us when she has time.

Heres another skin with buttons on the side.

WOW Koasati, that's a fabulous skin!! Aleksyander really knows how to put 'em together eh? Where can I see the rest of the suite?
This one may convince me that side buttons are O.K.!!

BoXXi....do a search at Skinbase for PhuZe, and they'll all be listed for you.

Thanx I'll be sure to see how they work before putting together my own.

BTW, is there any way of making stuff like the title bar partially transparent?

There are plenty of skins with side buttons, I've done quite a few myself. (becareful if you look at my skins though, I've got some really old and ugly stuff still posted here!) And BoXXi is right, they look cool but are a pain to get used to.

As for animated title bar buttons, I don't think they are possible yet. But you can fake it by putting the animation on the title bar and using transparent areas on the buttons. I don't remember the name of the skin that it was done on first but it was silver and green and was quite popular when it first came out.

Jobeleca: Transparency and fake translucency are possible but I don't think true translucency is possible in selected areas even with WindowFX.

Mercury: I don't understand what you mean about faking it.
What I meant was that I would like the buttons to animate on mouseover, you know, like a 10 frame animation, and not just a switch to another state.
Do you mean that I could put 3 animations on the title bar, have them execute the same commands as a normal button, and then just use magic pink to fool WB into thinking it has buttons?
The thought of that hurts my head! Did I understand you correctly?

Well...I'm quite at home with having my buttons on the top-left....feels almost more natural than top-right....

Yeah, but you do use the mouse with your left foot!

BoXXi, check out FRESH for animated taskbar buttons. They flash with a gold border on mouseover.
