Corrupted files and previews.

I am having problems with corrupted zip files AND preview images! I think it is something to do with my new broadband connection as all the files are intact on my system, so they must be getting corrupted during transfer. I have removed any possible magnetic sources away from my PC, (speakers etc.) so it must be something to do with a dirty connection or phone line.
I have removed my newest uploads that I did yesterday until it's fixed. If you downloaded any of my new stuff and it doesn't work, please accept my apologies.
If any of you have experienced this problem, I sure could use some advice!
Thanks guys........

In any case, he definitely needs to get the shortest cable that will reach between his computer and the outlet.

The shorter the cable, the better the performance.

Jobeleca-What kind of problem were you having?Did the stuff you uploaded look screwy on display like BoXXiz??Did you get error messages and such. Thanks a lot for bringing this thread back,,I was out of ideas and the cable company simply didn't care so hopefully it is a Stardock issue that soon will be behind us.

I never saw the problem myself, but several people left comments and emailed me that the wba file was corrupt for my redrew-cru theme. This had happened once before to me, similar problem.

A handful of times I've seen thumbnails that were corrupted.

Something to note: I never saw this problem earlier than a couple weeks ago, that shold give the developers a timeframe in which to look for errors.

While it may simply be a problem with the user having a bad connection, the timeframe that I mentioned earlier suggests to me it is a server side problem.

This problem could be difficult to pinpoint until I get this ethernet card installed, unfortunately, my wife bought the wrong kind when she went to buy it today, and bought one for a laptop. (WOMEN!, can't live with 'em, can't kill 'em!!) I will go and change it today, (saturday) and then we will see if it cures my problem.
One thing bothers me about the connection I have now:
where the LAN cable plugs into the USB to Ethernet adapter, the connection is very wobbly, like it hasn't locked in all the way, but I can't push it in any further. But I can still pull it out without pressing down the little locking mechanism! Yet I suspect that if this was a problem, then my download speed would be affected too, and not just the upload speed.
Anyway, I'll put the new card in and see what happens.

Incidentally, I have sent files to myself, sent them via messenger to T-Man, and e-mailed them to my cable company. None of these were corrupted at all.

/me is confused!

BoXXi,you may not need an Ethernet Card if you can terminate/plug in/ the LAN cable to your CPU.This is the optimal way.

So what your saying about the loose connection is, the distictive click you would normally hear when you plug in a phone is not happening??Yes, this is faulty and should be replaced with one that locks the LAN connector just like a phone.I would take it in if it's not to far away to save time and clueless cable techs.Again I urge you to look at the back of your computer to plug the LAN in there.

Hi Patrick, Where you plug your modem into the back of your computer is the ethernet card. Yours must have had one fitted when it was built.
I will have that same socket when I fit my card.
Thanks for your e-mails, you have been a great help.

Durn, I have never seen that.Only a card input eh?I also have Eternet Card inputs as well as the typical LAN plug in.I thought all desktops had this.Sorry for the confusion.Did you upload your latest wall??It looked fine on pre-view and applied.

T-man posted that wall for me after I sent it to him via msn messenger.
Here's a good question for you:
Can I still use my 56k modem to connect to the net even though I now have broadband?

I'll check your answer later, I have to to bed, it's 7:20am and I must get some sleep. Night, night all!

Yes,of course. There is a slight bit of connection configuration.Usually under network connections or go to IE browser, then file, then tools-internet options. Then click the connections tab for a new connection wizard or just change the way you are connected for the time being. You will need an ISP unless your cable company provides back-up dial up for you.I doubt they do.So if you still have a dial up account just configure and dial up.
