Bad icon colors, please help!

I've recently downloaded WindowBlinds and IconPackager, so this problem could relate to either of them. After I installed the programs, every single icon on my computer has switched to 16-color format. It looks REALLY bad now... I've tried everything to get my icons to look normal again--uninstalling, reinstalling, even resetting the settings for my user profile. My computer resolution is 1024 x 768 at True Color, and I have the "Use all possible colors for icons" option checked.

This is really frustrating... I hope you can help me.

Thanks,
Yoshi

Uncheck "Use all possible colors", Sometimes it lowers color display to 16 colors. Restart. If it doesn't help, there's a tweak at www.VirtualPastic.net that explains how to set your color format back to 24 or 32 bit

Also, if you are using an iconpackage designed for Windows XP, the icons will look all raggedy with black outlines.....

This helped when I was running Windows 98, don't know about Windows 2000:
1. Open C\Windows\Regedit.exe,or x\winnt\regedit.exe.
2. Find the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics"
3. Select it.
4. On the right there must be a string value called "Shell Icon BPP",
if it's not there, create it.
5. Rightclick on it, choose Modify.
6. Enter your color depth, i.e. 16, 24 or 32.
7. Restart.
