Dangeruss - CAD question

Hi,

First off, I'm a HUUUUUUGE fan of your work. Not saying I'm large or anything

Anyways...I do some work with 3D drawings and one of the file formats we receive is .pkg ...part of what I have to do with these files is to print hardcopies for the drafter and engineer to redline and compare notes. The problem is we don't all have viewers for .pkg files. I have been digging around on the net to find a viewer, but seem to be coming up on the expensive end, or blank.

Do you have any suggestions?

ps...we don't keep them in this format. We translate them to other formats in-house. The catch is, only a handful of people here have that capability, and they service numerous others, so the workload bogs down quick when a vendor supplies us with those drawings.

Well *.pkg files aren't cad files, the *.prt and *.asy files are the cad files. Part of my job sound very similar to your except I'm also the draftsman and engineer . I was also looking for an SDRC I-Deas viewer, but they all cost alot of money. My company settled for buy a new PC with SDRC I-Deas on instead

oh...poop. you know, I was coming across the same sounding thing. Well, maybe CAD was the wrong description. I think they might be the 2D renders of the 3D designs. Dunno. Either way, it sounds like viewers are hard to come by unless you purchase the proprietary software, even if you have no need to edit it in that format and don't store it in that format.

Thanks for the help though!
