DPI question...

I use 1024 X 768 sreen resolution with the normal 96 DPI setting and everything is too small to read for me, but when I move it to 120DPI (large) alot of screens with windowblinds is off centered .. is there anything I can do?
- 800 X 600 is to big ... horrible on a 17in monitor

I use 1023x768 at 96 DPI on a 17in monitor and I have no problem reading the screen and I'am blind as a bat.

Changing the DPI can have very ugly results. Sorry do not know of a fix for this. I don't want to make you feel old, but I'll tell you what I did. I went to the eye doctor and got a pair of glasses. With slight magnification, glare protection, etc. They really made a difference for me at least...

I squint...
Anything over 96dpi is the same as using 'large fonts' and makes way too many problems with programs to be worth it. My notebook has a 15" screen and runs at 1600x1200 so I put my desktop at the same res. I've gotten used to it now and can't stand not having all that extra room. The solution was to lean a little closer to the monitor... and squint...

I just had a thought that might help... try putting your res up to 1280x1024 and live with that for a few days, then put it back to 1024x768. It'll probably look huge to you then...

Try using the custom setting for fonts. If you just take it up to about 100 DPI, it might just be enough to make a difference without screwing everything up. Just a thought.
