Is anyone else having problems with a Voodoo 3 video card on XP?

I am.

Sometimes, when I'm in the middle of doing something, the computer just locks up and I can't even move the mouse, then a few seconds later, the screen turns blue and a message comes up saying that the 3D card has caused an error and Windows had to be shut down.

I have the most recent drivers for it, but that dosen't say too much, considering the fact that the company that made the card went bust a while after XP was first released.

This happened to me 6 or 7 times on Wednesday, and I lost everything I was doing every time. I was wondering if anyone else is having/has had the same problem and if anyone knows what to do about it (besides buying a new card). This has been happening ever since i got XP by the way, but only twice a month at the most, not 7 times in a single day.

Thanks

Ryan

If you will look at Voodoofiles.com, they have a number of aftermarket drivers for your card. Use at your own risk. I am currently using the Amigamerlin 2.5 drivers under Win2k and they perform quite well for me.

Not sure what model Computer? I have an old AMD 1600XP with 512mb RAM. I use the Voodoo 3 2000 and have not had any problems as you do. Did you use the drivers that came with XP? Update to SP1? My only problem is with OD and WinFX not alpha blending (sigh).

P3 256MB RAM. I know it's a Voodoo3, but i'm not sure what model it is cos i didn't buy it.

Yes I used the XP drivers. I think I went to their website and downloaded some new drivers once, but either it didn't work, or I lost it in a reinstall, because I don't have them anymore.
