The last time I used it Kazaa was nothing but leeches. I had to go through dozens of users before I could find one that I was able to download from. I can't equate 2-3 hours of my time putting together an album from Kazzaa with 10 minutes in the car and 12 bucks at Best Buy.

Between the push for the U.S. justice department to crack down on it, the fake files from the entertainment industry, and ISPs being forced to cut people off who share, I don't think it is gonna be popular in any form in the long run. Especially in the spyware/adware/sell-your-processor-time versions we have now.

I think p2p is dead unless someone can come up with a legal use for it. Me, presonally, I can't think of a lot of public-domain type stuff I would spend time downloading, and anything else isn't worth the hassle. I forsee a return to FTP/IRC/Newsgroups... that's where it all started anyway.

My computer was flaky the entire time my daughter had kazaa on it, and I had to do a long, serious registry cleaning to get rid of all the problems after kazaa was removed. kazaa is a four-letter word to me.

Spy-ware/theft-ware....poetic justice, I'd say...

Kazaa-lite cured all problems with kazaa long ago. just check out www.zeropaid.com to see what's going on with p2p

P2P is far from useless. Call it wrong or immoral if you want, but I promise you I get tons of use out of it.

You're using the work of others in a project that's supposed to be done by you?

I had heard so many bad things about Kazaa and IMesh, that I went on a search to find something else. I've been using a free prog called WinMx with good results, and no spyware! -- and it's free!

WinMX was good, but ever since they made a new version that resumes downloads, it hasn't worked for me.

I downloaded the newest version, and I searched for a band which, before the "updates" would've found over 700 results, but instead only found around a hundered. That's a lot, no matter who you're searching for, but it was (more or less) all from the same user, and there was at least 20 people in the queue.

I think I'll just stick with iMesh for now. I know it's got spyware and other crap in it, but at least it works. But as soon as WinMX starts working again, I'll switch back to it.
