Rightclick on desktop - go to Skins - click on "Window blinds" button - In settings, check the box " make icon text background transparent"

i did, but the icon text is still solid.... do i have to load a theme? cause i don't want a new theme, i just want the icon text to be clear so it won't ugly-fy my desktop....

If you have Windows XP, you can do that without WindowBlinds.

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings > Use drop shadows...
