Why are not Winamp3 designers yet in here????

Why are not Winamp3 designers yet in here????

Im seeing a lot of people downloading the Winamp3 version, its hot at this moment, and when I came here I found 0 I mean cero works based on that universal and very used program.

I dont want to ofend anybody but we, the people of the customizing can not stay with our arms crossed. I dont know anything about skinning or making icons or anything, but we have to make something about it.

you know what's funny, my Windows Media Player did just what your talking about Vodoo. 30 minutes of playing and CRASH!!! I thought maybe it was the animation or maybe it was something else. It doesn't do it any more (but I got my computer re-imaged so allot of things don't happen anymore). That is when I found out my problem was a bad mpeg file.

I also found out sometimes 2 programs do not like each other so much they freeze on my computer. DesktopX, Photoshop LE... will totally freeze, if I start winamp.... lawd help me!!! Lately I haven't played anything on my computer because I lost it in a computer meltdown. I would like to see how it runs now

bakerstreet no i dont sit and look at winamp3 but you can feel its chugging on the desktop or doing weird thinks messing with explorer, didnt have any imaging software open, all i had running was mIRC wolffm in the playlist, DesktopX, WindowBlinds, wfx2 & norton 2002 suite running in systray

yes winamp3 was excluded from everything until i uninstalled it

well alot of people ive spoken to dont like winamp3 because its unstable and alot of bugs so its not just me as you seem too think :o

define how many peoples machines it runs fine on...?

ive not got problems with it on CPU usage as its about 0 to 2% it just uses way too much GDI at one stage it was up as high as 7,000 GDI with their default winamp3 skin 25mem usage with a very small play list as thats all i mostly use winamp or v3 for internet radio

but ever since ive uninstalled winamp3 its been a dream, i totaly think winamp3 is a joke at this time as winamp2.8 is way more stable, doesnt even use more than most 2 - 4 meg of mem & GDI is as low as 256

Explorer crashes and it must be winamp...? Are we talking about the same Explorer? You are a skinner, you should know better than that...

well it only messes with explorer.exe when running winamp3 and no none of my OS files are Hax0red and heres what it done to explorer till i had too restart it http://python.railbait.com/images/upload/Image1.jpg everytime i dragged a window it left all these trails

and as for the latest drivers there all from NVIDIA.com for motherboard, and the gfx card i aint going back too older detonators for winamp3 40.41 is alot better for WFX2, especially gaming and DVD

Seems like Nullsoft and Stardock have something in common

Voo: What you show in that screenshot is DesktopX not drawing the desktop correctly. Quite possibly because it has hung. Were any of the desktopX objects responding when you had that problem? As to whether Winamp3 caused it I have nothing to say on that matter When you can come back here with no other customisation apps running and give the same account your blaming it on Winamp3 may be more credible.

I used to gripe about stardock apps, but when I did it was young software, running on the average 300-400mgz computer, on windows 98, with a circa 1999 video card(>16meg). The problems were factual, annoying, and universal. Now, people are still griping about stardock, and oddly using the same statements people made then, even though all those problems are mostly historical. Just like you, griping about bugs that were in beta versions of Winamp3. It kind of bothers me that the facts I, and others, stated then are spouted as lies now. I should have bitched to Stardock instead of on messageboards. Sound familiar?

You have a ton of skinnables running at the same time as you are running winamp3, in addition to other high-end apps that are notable for crashing systems. If you were to call tech support for one of the games you mentioned, they would ask you for a string of information 4 or 5 screens long, just to see if you have software or hardware compatiability problems. You seem to know through supernatural means.

Good luck to you, this has become boring.

Hi Baker!

carry on... hehe

well, I am thinking about making a try for winamp3, is it that hard for coding like some people say? does anybody knows about a good skinning tutorial for it?

Im using a self-built AMD 1800+, Soundblaster Audigy Mp3, GeForce 2 MX, 512mb DDR Ram and don't have any problems at all with WA3. Actually it crashes less for me than WA2 did. I was always having touble. Now it seems it's actually working better. I would have to agree with those stating it must be crappy hardware or configuration. I had problems with McAfee VirusScan 6 and WinAmp2. Now I have no problems, the CPU usage has had no more problems. I think some people just hate when something new comes along, so they decide to make it look worse than it actually is. I must admit, it's becoming just like the AMD/Intel War. Does it really make a damn bit of difference what you think WA3 does wrong? If you don't like it, don't use it. Just please don't bitch about it. For each of you that has problems, there is one that doesn't. So lets really look at you're configuration. You think it's the software, but it may be the user that's causing the problems in the first place. Check your settings, read hardware compatibility reports. Don't just assume that since you installed it and it doesnt work for you, its a piece of junk. I've seen worse software....Windows Me is a perfect example. I've never seen a user go with windows me and not have one problem.....So wake up people....In with the new and out with the old. WA3 is coming alive...

No software works on 100% of systems. That's especially true right now when you have half the people running Windows 98/ME and the other have running Win2K/XP.

I would imagine Nullsoft mostly runs Win2K/XP (like many of us here in this disucssion).

Winamp3 IMO works pretty well on WinXP. But it uses a lot of GDI resources (which on XP is no big deal). But on Win98/ME, it is a big deal.

WindowBlinds has gone through the exact same stuff. People have always talked about how it is "buggy" or "slow" or whatever. In more recent times people have moved more and more towards feeling it's gotten "much better". The reality is that it hasn't really gotten better, it's just that more people have moved to Windows XP where GDI resources aren't an issue.

GDI resources, the secret devil of customization. Most people are oblivious to it. All desktop enhancements use them.

Each new version of WindowBlinds uses fewer and fewer of them as we learn some new trick or technique to save a GDI object here or there. Ever wonder why WB has such obnoxious image lists? Saves on GDI resources.

The fewer you use, the higher your compatibility gets.

I would be that 99% of Winamp 3 users have no problems with WA 3. But 1 out of 100 means 10,000 people out of a million and that's a LOT of ticked off people.

P.S. Integer: I concur with your view. As has been said, differences in opinion don't necessarily mean differences in principles.
