Wierd problem with Nero v12.5 platinum

I'm running Win8 Pro 32-bit and using Start8 (desktop mode) with ModernMix v1.05.

In general, when I'm on the Start screen and click a tile, it opens a Windows on the Desktop containing the app (which is what I think, it is supposed to do).

But in the case of Nero Platinum v12.5, when I do that, it opens a full-screen with what looks like a set of tiles.

It does the same if I click the shortcut on the Desktop (opens full-screen with a set of tiles).

It's not a major problem, but just wondering if folks have run across similar problems with other apps -- and if there is anything I can do to force it to open in a Window on the Desktop.

I suspect Nero Platinum is not a modern app.  If you had to download and run an installer from a website then it is not one and just looks like one which is why ModernMix has no impact on it.

I suspect you're right in that it only "looks" like a Modern app.

Is there any way to tell for sure?
