Works fine for me. But I also use the latest WindowsFX, and use it to make the icon text transparent.

You might want to completely uninstall WB, and then reinstall, see if that helps.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input.

This is waht i did. I completely unibstalled/reinstalled WB. No change.(version 3.4d)

I updated my GeForce 2 MX440 to 29.42 (no change)
I installed the latesr FX and set it transparent background for ICON tex there and still it was not transparent. It is like a black band of color where the text is. I set FX so the icon text should be hidden and the text goes, but the back bar where the text was stays. I can get it to disappear if i click the icon and move it a tad .... but on refresh it returns. So I am thinking it has something to do with my graphics setting .. so I will look around .. but why change after SP1 update I do not know ... This is really frustrating as I really Like that text for the Icons to have Trans Background any more Ideas are appreciated >

Control Panel > System > Advanced > Performance Settings

Make sure "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop" is enabled.

Note: If you have WB and/or WFX set to mess with your icons, it could override this setting.

This was already set as suggested "Use drop shadows for..... desktop" is enabled. The strangest thing is that if i click and move the icon the background for the text will go tranparent until it is clicked again or refreshed .. it must be something strange .. a small item I cannot find.

Thanks for the suggestion ...aything else?

Are you using Desktop Architect? I seem to recall someone saying it was hosing their transparent icon text. If not DA, perhaps a similar utility?

The only desktop modifiers/utilities I am usimg is Webblinds .. and soemtimes I use FX.

I am almost posoyive this change took place After the SP1 windows update. Before that the Background for the icons was transparent using that setting in WB. Now I can't get that black background to disappear. The background of the ICONS themselves is tranparent .. the text is the problem. I have started usingsome setting in FX to make them look rather nice .. but i do not liek the fact I cannot do what I did before.

Thanks again for you trying to help out .. it is very much appreciated

FWIW, I'm using WXP SP1 and have no such problems. All my icon text background is transparent.

Yes, I am thibking it is some setting I have done using one of those tweak programs and then when th upudate was done it did soemthing unexpected .. and now it is as it is. I realy do not want to restore and see if it goes back to transparent ... I may try to uninstall/reinstall some things and then uninstall /reinstall drivers and Wb again. I ak almost sure it is soemthing that is specific to my setup or there would be plenty of posts on it. thanks again for the observation
