oh?! So im not the only one experiencing this?!
2 days and 20+ attempts on downloading the AoM WinStyle theme it just keeps "dropping" the file....
Seems like the new bandwidth have "directed" towards the pageloading...

Hmm, seems fine to me! Yesterday and today as quick as ever.

No problem downloading, just getting the messages to come up.

Me too Wise. Downloading is as fast as ever (370 - 375 Kb/sec), but sometimes the messageboard takes forever to load. Sometimes it loads instantly. Other times, the messageboard will load quickly, but individual messages won't. Quite often, they just hang during loading and I have to close the browser and start again. This often fixes it and the individual message loads fast.

Speeds are definately not consistent. I don't think it's my isp. I've ran multiple tests at 'DSL Reports' and my connection always comes back fine, with at least 2800 kps throughput.

Go figure!

I've had to close and reopen too. It does seem to help.

I can barely get it to finish a file. Most of the time it times out. And I know its not my internet connection. I get around 800k from everyplace else.

I have had very little success downloading - or even previewing, wallpapers.

I pinged skins.stardocks.com, which it the location where wallpapers seem to download from. The last node, skins.stardocks.com itself, is losing 20% of the ping packets. That node is part of the Cogent Communications Network and is located in Washington DC. I am located in the Los Angeles area.

Wincustomize.com should look into this and swtich to another network or host is necessary. Us viewers cannot do anything at this point but lament.

Does anyone have the OSX theme thats in the "top downloads" to the right. I've tried downloading it but it just times out.

I think I know the issue.

Recently WC acquired more bandwidth. But the new bandwidth is dedicated to WC subscribers and SD customers (since they paid for it). So their downloads are very fast.

Whereas everyone else's downloads get directed to skins.stardock.com and there's only a limited # of megabits there to go around. I'll look into it tomorrow to see if more can be enabled there. Moreover,we need to make it so that anyone with Apprentice access or higher gets directed to the premium bandwidth.

But obviously, the quickest way to get 300K/sec downloads is to just get a WC subscription.

i try to download but it take me like 30min to download something that is only 300k i have cable modem can someone tell me what is goin on

Not that I have a problem with that. I would gladly subscribe if that is the case, but if I do and the speeds are the same, then I wouldnt be happy.

That sounds like the case, wheels2040. Everyone who has posted on this thread and said it was fast is a subscriber (including myself), and it appears that everyone who says it is slow is not a subscriber.
