WindowBlinds is a program that skins the existing standard Windows elements (it replaces the such things as the titlebars, scrollbars, toolbars, and so on).

DesktopX is program that allows you to customize your desktop by adding such things as animated images/icons, free form objects, docks, and so on. This can be as simple as having a animated icon such as a clock, or a full blown theme that adds all sorts of doodads to your desktop.

When you change WindowBlind skins, you have to use the WindowBlinds config (or the skins/appearances tab in your Windows Display Properteis) and select the skin you want to switch to.

When you want to change DesktopX themes, you have to go to the DesktopX config and select with theme you want to switch to.

Winstyles allows you to do the above in one step. For example, you may have a WindowBlinds skin and a DesktopX theme that compliment each other. With Winstyles, you can create a WinStyles theme that includes the WindowBlinds skin and the DesktopX theme, and say, give it the name My Cool Theme. Now when you tell Winstyles to switch to My Cool Theme, Winstyles automatically switches the WindowBlinds skin and DesktopX theme.

The catch is that not only do you have to have WinStyles installed, you must also have DesktopX and WindowBlinds installed as well. Remember WinStyles is really a way to package different application skins under one theme.

WinStyles themes can also hold Winamp skins, Windows Media skins, Winstep(NextStart/Workshelf) themes, HoverDesk themes, wallpapers and more (assuming you have these apps installed as well).
