This stuff does take a bit of getting used to. Just play around with it and have fun.

If you want to create a theme or skin you will need a couple of things:

1) Text Editor

Notepad will work, but it is short on bells and whistles. Object Edit included with OD is very nice. The skins and themes have text files that control how the bitmaps are applied.

2) Graphics Program

Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.. Some are very expensive, some are cheap or even free. Search around and find one you like. Actually creating the bitmaps is the fun part.

3) Skinstudio

https://www.stardock.com/products/skinstudio/ This program makes creating a Windowblinds skin relatively easy. It is not necesary though it helps!

First thing you will want to do is open up some skins and themes youlike and take a look inside. They will have for example a .dxtheme or .wba extension. They are nothing more than a Zip file with a new extension. Open up Winzip and point to the skin file and unzip it. The stuff that is in there is what you will need to make.

The links in my first post should now be more useful for you. Good Luck!

Be patient, it will fall into place. Start taking existing themes and skins apart...........study the images and what does what. Open .ini files with your text editor, and check them out. It may take a while before the light bulb comes on, but if you really want to be a skinner, it will happen.
And remember it's much easier to answer a specific question, than a general how do I make skins question. Good luck!
