No one is forcing you to buy anything. The site is free, and so are the downloads. Programs such as Object Desktop have to be bought because they cost money to make. The site also consumes a huge bandwidth which also costs money. Some of us help with the cost of this by subscribing - no one is forcing you to do that either.

I feel kinda guilty. I have no complaints about this site. None about Stardock. Been a CUSTOMER for many years, since WB first came out. Have purchased 4 of these programs and bit the bullet and purchased Object Desktop. Am pleased as pudding!! Talk about good service. My programs are sent to me auto. No muss no fuss, they will install themselves and overwrite the files. Everything works great and if there are glitches in some programs, they're working on it!!!! (all of our systems are different). Can't believe how well all of this does work. This site is a community and is entertaining as well as informative and as such should be supported so that it can remain and be enjoyed by "how many" I wonder. Thanks, Stardock You are loved.

Yes, correct. The point of your post was that Stardock are telling you the server is busy, but you're so stupid, that you actually think you're very clever, and you have it all sussed out.

The server IS busy, and the reason you (And many others too, you're not special or anything) are getting the 'server busy' message, is to let the server load go down a bit, and allow people to browse the site at a reasonable speed. But of course, you're king of the world, and woe betide Stardock for being fat stupid liars.

Although I can see your point. If I was Stardock, I too would pay for a site out of my own pockets, then lie to the public that the server was busy ,when it wasn't, so that no-one could acess the site, thus wasting the money I spent on the upkeep of the site.

i typed the whole url+filename in the adressbar and i got the file with 75 kb/s its nearly my maximum download so the server can't be too busy !!!

Busy servers? Come on people. Let's be realistic here.

The issue isn't as much bandwidth as server capacity. This site is very database intensive as the pages are all dynamically built from the database. When the site is being accessed by several hundreds of people, the database has to get a lot of the data from the db to build the pages. Bandwidth is still a major issue here, but not the only issue having to do with the "server busy" message.
It is my understanding though, that both the server and bandwidth issues are being worked on. Hopefully things will get better soon. In the meantime some patience is required to get to all of the wonderful work here and be a part of the community.

As a person on the "outside" looking in, you may feel we are a bunch of harda**es, this is hardly the case. We all have to have a degree of patience with this site, it is very popular, and has a close knit community of great skinners, developers, and yes, plain ole "joes" such as myself. If you are into a one-stop shop for creative skins and informative, sometimes non-sensical, "bantering", dude you have found the place. The "wait" in line is always worth it, btw, I have never met the, "server is busy", on the other hand, I would rather see that than what Neowin had to "say" to their patrons. Know what I mean?
