Got Litestep and Shellon Working . . Question about indie-build

For those that helped, thanks! See my post under "Best Way for Litestep (on XP) newbie to get started?" for how I got ShellOn working - that was strange. Now, to update to the latest stable indie, I just overwrite the distro files I have with the 5/15 indie? Thanks

Mark, yes...sort-of....but as with picking yourself up by your own shoelaces, you'll have to get out of LiteSTEP to replace the files....and it's important to note that with updates comes various changes of coding and relationships with older modules, etc....you 'may' get the odd result or two....but 'normally' updating the dev-build or Indie build is 'fairly' painless...

Good to see you 'STEPping out at last...

I figured I had to be out of LiteStep to update the files, so at the moment, I'm running Exlorer. I'll copy over the files with the ones in the 5/15 build, and then log-off back on into LiteStep. I chose the 5/15 build because it is identified as the stable release, but I see many recent themes are looking for June and even July indie builds. I guess I'll end up updating it like a maniac (like everything else) eventually, but for now I guess I'll give 5/15 a shot. Thanks again for all the info.

If 5/15 pans out (and it should), myself and many others (ones here at wincusto included) have been running indie builds from the last month or so. They are very stable, with improved features, and pretty much backwards compatibility (I'm sure there must be something broken, but to be honest I haven't come across it myself).

Btw, the build I"m currently using is from shellfront.org and is the july 9 build.

Running the May 30 Indie, as we speak....no 'dramas'...

Cool. Yes, I worked myself up to a 7/07 build, and all seems fine so far.
