Problems with system tray

Hi All,

I'm a new user having trouble with a program I wrote in VB5 that minimizes to the system tray. After installing the Stardock suite, whenever the program loads, the icon never shows up in the tray. Since it's the only method of operating the program (it's hidden from the taskbar), I cannot use it. Short of rewriting the program, is there any possible solution?

Thanks!

the only two stardock programs that should effect the system tray are Object Bar (OB) and DesktopX (DX).

both are capable of replacing the system tray.

they both use a program called trayserver to capture icons that are placed into the system tray.

if you are using either of these programs, have you tried rebooting?

a common problem with trayserver is that it can only detect system tray icons that are created after trayserver has loaded. hence the need for a reboot.

if this doesnt match your problem, then we are going to need to know your OS, and which Stardock programs you are using.

I bought the whole suite, but at this point, I'm only using the 'blinds program (for skins). I tried the Object Bar and actually got my icon to show up by diddling with the settings, but right-clicking it's icon would not generate a menu. I'm back to just the 'blinds and still cannot get my icon to show. Would it being written in VB have anything to do with it?

Open your task manager, and I thnk you will find trayserver is still running, even after unloading OB.
