What a fool. Why is he a fool? Because he's saying that brad is "bitching and moaning" when it was one of his admins that created the abusive thread in the first place. So.... in idiotville bitching and moaning is defending yourself in a post created to attack you.

The other funny part is that Brad had already posted that he was leaving a day before.

Yea the whole thing is just sad. I left yesterday, what more is there to say? I don't know who "Darkseer" is and frankly it doesn't matter. Whoever chooses the admins must purposely search out the worst human beings possible.

I removed the site from my bookmarks, there's nothing there. I'd remove my skins too but they don't have a way to remove their skins (goes to show how important they feel skinners rights are).

Brad, do as I, and many, many others have had to resort to....publicly and openly request that your work be removed by an admin.
You will get some platitude about...'with regret' or 'perhaps you will return in the future in more friendly climes', or some such drivel posted to soften the public realization that many of the world's most respected and well-known skinners have left Custo because of mistreatment and abuse from the site's own staff.

Oh, you'll get comments of 'little boy is taking his bat and ball and going home', but the public misconception that your skins being hosted there somehow endorses the site will not become a factor....

Do you guys have no idea how hypocritical you are? You have this huge thread bashing custo.org. You can’t even see that what you're doing is pretty much the same thing you’re accusing them of. The only real difference being that instead of a bunch of teenagers, you're a bunch of 30 and 40 year olds who use more eloquent words (well, at least some of you). But the actions are the same. At least it’s somewhat understandable coming from a cocky kid who thinks he knows it all. What’s your excuse? This ‘Holier than thou’ attitude is a real turn off and is the reason I rarely ever frequent this site anymore. And the really sad part is, some of you won’t have a clue as to what I’m talking about.

I’m not saying the admins at custo are right. But if custo isn’t your thing, don’t go there anymore (sort of like me and this site), don’t start an “I hate Custo” thread.

Grayhaze and Paxx made some good points without hitting below the belt.

there's plenty of love and kindness here too. Plus there's some compassion for custo mixed in with all the hurt and anger. I think it's just really confusing, disorienting, to get attacked publicly like that. It's an ugly thing and no amount of discussing it makes it any less ugly. I agree, this thread is painful too.

But Doreen and crae can post here without having to worry about being attacked and called names. If they were consistently treated that way here they'd probably have their own 'wtf is happening' thread somewhere else.

I certainly don't want my work to be associated with those people, and although I wouldn't actively suggest such a thing, the only way they'll really learn is for the remaining WindowBlinds skinners to do the same. What's the point in having your skins represented by a site that publically criticises the application you skin for? In some small way, when someone attacks the usefulness of WindowBlinds, I also feel that they are attacking my skins. After all, would I skin for the app if it really was as bad as they were saying? I have more pride than that.

Robohead>> It's a shame that you feel that way about this site. I do think that maybe you're approaching the whole thing the wrong way though. I've experienced sites in the past where there is an overbearing element of snobbery and there's no doubt that it drives people away. I actually used a particular chat site for almost four years until the point where I couldn't stand the 'holier than thou' attitude of certain parties, at which point I left.

I think what you see here is a whole other thing entirely. What you see here is a community of people with experience and knowledge which they want to share with the newer people to the community. They don't try to force their opinions upon other people, but they try to maintain balance in the attitudes expressed in the message boards and such. That balance is very important, and if someone tries to cause trouble they won't be tolerated.

But above all, this site is intended as a fun place to be. It's a place where you can get away from the petty conflicts that regularly occur at sites which aren't quite so evenly managed. I actually find myself spending a great deal of time here, because whenever there is a debate about anything, the opinions expressed are usually presented in a thoughtful manner. There's very little of the 'you suck' mentality here, and that's the way we want it. You'll very rarely see anything like a flame war here.

Some people enjoy conflict, and it's those people who tend to feel that this air of maturity amounts to the 'holier than thou' attitude. We're here to discuss the things that interest us, and we like to do that in a grown up way.

I am watching this thread from the beginning and I am with you. But, please, let this thread die! It doesn't do any good to the skinning community, in general, if you know what I mean.

I agree with adni (and yes I see th irony here). Let it drop, we are in danger of becoming what we dislike.

Let me put it in a different light:

There are lots of websites out there that are nasty and ugly. And there are plenty of sites out there that I've gotten flamed on. I just don't visit those sites, I don't post about them.

But Customize.org is different because it was once THE site to visit and congregate to discuss and post the things that we all have in common -- skinning.

Seeing Customize.org become what it's become isn't a matter of wanting to "Bash" it. It's a real sad thing that bothers a lot of us because of the memory of what it once was. I was one of the first people on Customize.org years ago. I've invested many hours into that site in the form of skin contributions, commenting, and just general discussion and visiting. I had felt like it was a kind of home.

How would Doreen or you or others who felt a close feeling to Skinz.org (for example) feel if suddenly the admins of the site started calling you obscene names, belittling the things you've invested your career into making, and telling you to "shut the ^*^ up and go away!"?

It is always easier to take a dispassioned point of view when it's not your rear end being flamed on a site you once cared about and thought you were intimately part of.

It's not that it's just some crummy site that is the issue. It's that it is a crummy site that was once great that I felt part of at one time. I think that others feel this way too.

I'm suprised I haven't seen a poll yet, as to which app the users think is better (styleXp or windowblinds) Just a thought.

I was told that cuz ppl did not appreciate me speaking "when, where & what I wanted" I left crying and then came back (I still don't know why I went back when I prob should have left the net then)

The *admins* of skinz.org didn't say that to you. Big difference. It's the admins of customize.org screaming at me.

Plus there is the basic hypocricy. The same guys who say they "hate" Stardock and all its software because of me say that people shouldn't judge Customize.org based on the actions of their admins.

It did not matter who said it to me Brad cuz ppl are ppl regardless of their "Titles" (to me the President of the United States is no diff then you or I)

I think I went back to skinz.org cuz I missed crae! all I wanted was to have fun and realized those other mean ppl meant nothing to me or my life and I was not there to gain respect or make a living I was there only for fun

Brad you need to remember to have fun, yes you make your living that way but if you let every single thing get to you your living will kill you in the end...

Doreen - wasn't crae one of the guys that drove you away? heh - I know I was one of the few that stuck up for you and tried to keep you there. Can't remember what crae was sayin at the time but the flap was over you talking too much or something like that. Too many OT posts or something (which later became a standard at the site). Whatever - thank god you stayed... the world woulod be a bleaker place for skinning without you around

now let this thread sink into the abyss knowing that if my sis had the sense to stick around, her detractors all learned to love her, then custo will eventually become a skinnig site again and we can all live in harmony... what a wonderful world....

Er.. Why are you assuming I'm not having fun? Do you seriosly think that hanging out on skin sites is part of my job? custo's goodness or badness is completely irrelevant from a business point of view. I visit the sites and hang out here because it IS fun normally.

Lamenting the fall of customize.org doesn't mean that I don't have fun in my life. and lamenting its decline is certainly not related to my job.

I agree - but that's kidn of my point, you were implying that I wasn't keeping it in proper perspective. I simply stopped going there.

Remember, when you type 120+ words per minute you can write a lot of stuff quickly. Pepole assume long posts are obsessive/compulsive things but it's just reflection of words per minute.

I was just trying to use the example of when I got upset over ppl saying things to me that I finally put things into proper purspective and realized the nasty remarks were not important and stopped fighting and just went back and had fun "period"
