What a con?

I do not know if you people here care but
https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=8&SkinID=3077

Is a total rip and a con.

Copyright FFS!

What a con!!! >

It is just the Winamp MilkDrop Plug-in. The bloke has just pressed printed screen when this was running and added a line to the bottom saying it was his own work.

It is not even created his own effects within MilkDrop. Then it would not be so bad.

See http://www.milkdrop.co.uk or http://www.geisswerks.com for the plug-in.

Can this be removed!! It is not orginal at all!!!! > > >

Rovastar....
If Delprinz has used a 'plug-in' to generate the image, it's not a 'rip' but no more different than a Photoshop plug-in or filter, or a picture generated with the likes of Bryce.
What matters is the resultant 'artwork', or Wallpaper in this case, and whether it has merit as a wall.

This can only be a 'rip' if it was not he who pressed 'print-screen', but he had downloaded another's wall, and claimed it as his own.

OK, so perhaps there's not a lot of 'effort' in it, but I've seen walls with less....

I am very disapointed.
How on earth can you have less effort.

You do not understand the person has not designed anything himself at all.

If he has designed the preset then that would be fine.

When I say plug-in I mean just taking a screenshot of the default settings. The author of the preset design should have some credit. In this case Ryan Geiss. He designed the presets that he has ripped off (which IS copyright Nullsoft). Just because it it is a plug-in it does have rights. He does imply that he designed the images on the wallpaper. He did NOT.

If it was my MilkDrop preset I would be very annoyed. (/me off at add a copyright disclaimer to all the work I have done on the milkdrop website)

All the person did was press 'print ascreen' and then had the f**king cheeck to add a copyright symbol to this. This is wrong.

Download the plug-in press 'L' and go to Dynamic swirls. ANd that is this.

He also did it again on his other 'wallpaper' sun or something.

Just because the image are dynamic to the music does not mean that the creative work has gone on here.

He did not design his own image with the plug-in he used other peoples work!!!! > > >

It looks like the other image (the sun one) is lifted right from the website. Probably it's a print-screen of the same plugin running on his machine but it looks identical to what's in the screenshot section of the MilkDrop website.

I think this guy should have at least said "this is a screenshot of the MilkDrop plugin by Ryan Geiss" in his comments. I agree it's cheeky to put his name and a copyright symbol on the piece and not mention the source. The plugin designer deserves all the credit. The website for the plugin should also be mentioned.

I think we should exile the two pieces and email the author to include permission from the website to use the images and also ask that he give credit to the image source. Since it has been pointed out here what the real story is.
What's your feeling Jafo?

Yes...just as with other 'obvious' filters and plugins...they should be 'credited' in the description.
As with Bryce landscapes...or a dolphin [damn those dolphins], it is one thing to render a model with a proggy and entirely another to draw it by hand....

In this case, it would be more 'PC' for the artist submitting a wall generated this way including 'A MilkDrop by Nullsoft plugin generation' as its 'copyright'.

I had intended emailing him to that effect.
It IS arguable, however that the screenshot resulting is 'his' essentially as much as a Bryce Dolphin is...

I 'could' say something about Nullsoft and its track-record of Copyright infringements with regards to highlighting rips as legitimate news item promotions for their email news, but I won't...

Thanks for the clear thoughts DavidK:)

The sun one (Many Colours) is slightly different and he will have preset print screen to get this.

There used to be pic of this MilkDrop one (Dynamic swirls) on Ryan site too.

I have no problems with MilKDrop being used for wallpaper it naturally creates some nice images and the produce is free etc.

ANd the guy came used any of my presets (I have done most of them for it) but the only reason I wrote this was because he had the copyright symbol there with his name and it was not his work.

With copyright and name and credit on your site to the plug-in and author of the preset I am fine with it.

Sorry to sound like I was going off on a mad one but I didn't think it was fair.
