PSP 7.04 and Windows Blinds

Hi group from a {newbie at Object Desktop)
Sorry if this has been asked before but...

It seems PSP 7.04 doesn't agree with Windows Blinds.
I've excluded it from being skinned.

Anyone ran across this problem and found a cure?
It's not that big an issue...just curious

Running Windows Me with all current updates.
Running newest releases of Object Desktop and all the trimmings.

TIA

I know that some applications that skin themselves tend to have problems with WB. Photoshop has that problem on my system.

Try setting the ap to use only "Specified skin". Use a UIS1 skin. Those are skins that show up with three windows instead of two when previewing them from the display properties. It seems to fix my problem with Photoshop.

This solution will probably slow your system down some. It will be like running two skins at the same time. UIS1 skins are fairly fast though.

You could also try going with a UIS1 skin for everything. They are very fast since they are closer to what windows expects and I suspect that they cause fewer conflicts.

I have no problem with PSP being skinned by WB.
So, the problem is not PSP or WB......

Koasati...

PSP actually gets skinned just fine..it's just the PSP menus get corrupted(like double imaged)

I have another program that I developed using Delphi 3 and the app uses a component that skins the main menu....It also has same problem with corrupted menu while windowblinds is loaded.

Click the Help menu in skin studio is does the same thing.
turbo navigator also has the same problem in all menus..
So it could be WB

I had trouble with one or two releases of WB.....did horrid things to the floating tool windows in PSP6.....but they were new betas of WB so I just reverted back to an earlier release...no problems...

Well I reloaded Win2K so I'm gonna see if that's a better alternative.

I have read on this site that Win2K and WinXP is more suitable for Object Desktop(and trimmings).

Will let ya all know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies.

Hi group

Thought I'd relay the outcome of my PSP delimma as to maybe
help others that may be experiencing similiar problems.

I've just finished putting Win2K back on my computer and
the problem with font overlays in PSP disappeared.

As I said in an earlier post, I did read on the Wincustomize site(or somewhere) that Win2K and WinXP are more suited for Object Destop and WB because of restrictions that non-Win2K/XP OS's put on the amount of memory allocated to the GUI.

Incidently, where is the link to learn about all those extras that posters add to their posts?...emoticons etc..

Thanks for all replies.

Thanks Tast

I now have a dual boot(Win2K and WinME) and I returned to WinME to run some more tests. Griffinme had suggested to specify a skin for PSP that was in UIS1 format. I'm not that familiar with the different formats of WB skins but I did assign PSP a skin called Lunar and the overlay problem disappeared.

I've a lot to learn about Object Desktop yet but I'm sure I'll figure out all these oddities in time.

Thanks for the many replies.
This group has been very helpful.

In my copy of PSP7 under windows XP, if you open two (or more) images in separate windows, when you switch to another window, the first one stays blue as if it were active. If you wipe it with an active one, it goes inactive. It should refresh to this straight away. Verrry strange....

Splash

Although I posted that my PSP problem had disappeared with the reinstallation of Win2K, I couldn't have been more wrong...The main menus straightened out but the buttons in dialogs were like overlapping each other.

So I just exclude PSP from being skinned...After all you do see that there are programs that WB has already excluded permanently.

I like Jafo have the font problem in the menus in PSP and on the component cube. When I go back to 3.15 of Windowblinds everything is fine. However, when installing the lastest betas the problem re-occurs. So far, I've just lived with it. If anyone finds a solution, other than going back to 3.15, please let me know.
