Msgboard Chatroom Marathon

Honestly, I would go to IRC for this kind of stuff, but if any of you have been there recently, everyone seems to be...inactive. Sooooooooo, out of boredom, I'm turning a thread among this msgboard into a chat room, anyone care to join? =P.

It's Sunday night, and I'm bored out of my mind. There's much to do, but I'm too lazy to get around to do it. My boyfriend is busying trying to get Visual Studios to work so I can't talk to him on the phone....and we can't seem to talk over the phone anyways...it'll just be silence mostly.

New Semester started........so anyone alive out there to join Elffie in this chat marathon? =P

Let's try not to let this post hang for over 2 hours, hm? =P

Thanks Green Reaper.

I am officially annoyed with computers.

My work machine is a dual P4-1.7 Ghz setup. It takes Internet Explorer 6 to 7 seconds to load on it.

My laptop here is a p3-700 and IE loads in 2 seconds on it.

I am currently testing out a new version of WindowBlinds that has global bitmaps which brings the performance up to where it only takes 3 seconds on my dual P4. Why is the P4 SLOWER than a freaking laptop?

Also been playing Medal of honor and suspect that computers are more addictive than crack.

computers are more addictive than crack . After all, crack still allows people to do things, but computers just make us sit there and play/tweak it all day. Nothing outside of that is accomplished

Hmm

I'm surprised that feline hasn't found his way here yet. He's usually one for chat things like this.

Maybe it's because I forgot to summon his dragon friends =P

There was a thing in Newsweek (I think) about telling if you're addicted to something. I'm definitely addicted to the Internet. It really kicked in with the laptop because it's always near by when I'm home and because it's always on and always connected, if I finish something else around the house or some other activity I can always just check email or something.

Ahhh, yes.

Laptops are convienent, but I think it's not because we're addicted to the internet. I think it's more of a closer communication source for us. If we're bored, we can surf on it. It brings us news from abroad...

It's just a matter of feeling like you need to stay connected instead of being addicted to it .

you're right Elfie... I'm addicted to staying connected...
Haha. Probably not as bad as you're putting it, David . I remember once when I was addicted to the internet. There was just so much to see, so much a person can do, I can't seem to stay away from the internet.

At times though, I'm sure you'll go through a period where you'll take some time off and just relax and do things you should've done a while back. Spending time with the tv or even going out..........or even remembering you have a bed to sleep in =P.

Nahh, if you go through those times, then you're not addicted

relax sounds good... TV? no way... sleep is what I do when my computer is defragging
Reply #39 Top
Ahhh,

It is that time. This thing call sleep, it's unavoidable. I'm going to turn in now and catch some zzzs for tomorrow. I'll see all of you tomorrow .

Good night everyone

had to pop in and post a quick message just so Elfkura's wish would go on: not to lapse for more than 2 hours!

I have to agree with you Brad, my laptop is always on when I'm home and 99% of the time connected.

/me pulls a DevArtian "I didn't read anything, but I'll post my meaningless opinion anyhow"

The difference between IRC and this board are 1)100k in size per refresh and 2) auto reload.

All hail IRC.

Oh and after reading: I sincerely hate computers. Stupid keyboard has too many keys, keyboard and mouse fight for desktop supremacy, screen is too small, machine is too slow, I need two cursors,m I've got two hands damnit... Can't wait for the day that these monsters will be efficient and design will enter its realm.
