Internet Explorer Scrollbars!

I like what I see. I assume this includes all platforms and not just XP? I like the changes on explorer too. Can't wait.

Just XP I'm afraid. MS only made IE6 skinnable on XP.

Lancer, we have WindowFX which does the transparencies and scrollbars.

WindowBlinds already does animated buttons, scrollbars and title bars.

Frankly, there's nothing OS X can do that we aren't already doing either in Object Desktop or internally in our lab example: https://www.stardock.com/temp/neo1.jpg

I take it you're not familiar with our software?

on the origional link, are the fish in the title bar animated?

/me thinks that would be cool

and if so, is that skin available anywhere publicaly?

Frogboy - MS only made IE6 skinnable on XP.

/me wonders. . .
is this tied to a specific dll (type of thing)?
the idea is, is it possible to port this skinability to other OS's by playing with replacement dll's?
if so, can it be done cleanly by windowblinds at some point?
/me doesnt fancy hacking a working OS just for IE scroll bars

As I understand it, IE paints it's own scrollbars (which is why WB couldn't skin it in the first place). Now, IE only has to worry about theming on XP. There, too, IE paints it's own scrollbars, but it does it by finding out what the scrollbars look like on it's own. Since it only does this on XP, though, WB can only skin it on XP.

Alexandrie has uploaded the skin. Not only are the fish animated in the title bar but if you put your mouse over the Start button the fish swim in there too. If you click on the scrollbars the bubbles bubble around.

Sadly, MacOS X can't do those sorts of things. But the new one has a nice plastic case..

Lancer, are you familiar with WindowBlinds and other Stardock products, let alone do you have any first hand experience with OS X beyond screenshots??

I think it's just a tad silly to compare WB to OS X and expect a parity between the feature set of each. WB is a cosmetic and sometimes productivity enhancement to the Windows OS and OS X is a completely different operating system. Comparing WB to something like Kaleidoscope might be fine, but there's no release planned for X , sadly.

I'd love to have a copy of ObjectDock for my Windows machine. Wish I could get some of the other more usable features from X into Win easily, as well... It's a bit annoying not being able to work the same way across multiple platforms... skinning utils only get you so far.

yep, that is what i understood.
however, my question is, can the "bit" of IE that does this be "ported" across to other versions of windows?

i suspect that this may be possible by hacking around with the dll type files. i dont like that personally, but would like a nice stardock solution to this

since WebBlinds already links its self into IE for skinning (doing the buttons, ect), i am wondering if a future version could also link in and override IE's internal scroll bar picture "mechanism", emulating the XP style, thus taking advantage of the XP IE scroll bar skining.

does anyone see what i am getting at, or have i lost you all?
