Cannot open files by dragging them over icons in the dock

I would expect to be able to drag files over the icons in the dock and have them open...

 

For example... grab a jpg file on my desktop and drag it over Photoshop.  As per Windows GUI Photoshop should now run and open the file ready for me

 

Is there something I am missing, or can Object Dock not do this?

This feature is not in ObjectDock.  There have been some that have suggested it in the recent past, and the developers are looking into it.  Of course, this is tempered with the standard 'no promises', blah blah, etc.

In that case I wish I had stuck with the completely Free RocketDock - whose only shortcoming is the lack of multiple docks and is just as user friently- in fact less temperamental with icons
