Guess where your wallpaper is........

This guy has/is posting walls from just about every half-arsed artist on the net. Dangeruss, Boxxi, Mobius, Misery, Shadowness, Digitalblasphemy, Adni18, Tech13, Shinter....flattering I suppose but no permission has been sought nor is Artist credit given less text in the wall itself.

digitaljames,

Thanks for the info, this has to be the first site I have found that has so many walls by so many artists without any recognition to many of them. I found almost a dozen of mine in just a few minutes with not even a mention of who created them. The guy has a nice site and would be worth the exposure if he would just give credit and also at least ask before posting them. But yes I know that is asking a lot, or at least it seems the polite things in life died years ago.

Same site as james mentioned is a rip of the Sputnik wallpaper, but don't remember the original author http://www.hebus.com/img_eng.php?cat=leisure&dir=windows_xp&img=windows_xp051.jpg

Oh, what a wonderful world!
Thank you digitaljames for your information.

wow what a collection... this site is more heavily moderated than we'll ever be... easy to do when it's not a community site the artists post their own work to. He's got something from everybody there, and most of them with no credit to the artist. I even found one of mine.

As MobiusCo says it is a nice site. Too bad he doesn't include credit.

/me looks at his arse to see where the other half went!

Am I really a half arsed artist? Is that a compliment or an insult? Hmmm... I'm off to take a look at this site......

I agree with what most people are saying.
It's a beautifully laid-out site and with the right credits in place would be a real asset to the community - shame!

Wow, what a huge shame. The site is wonderful. Nicely layed out, wall are easily logically categorised, making it easy to find walls that you like. What a lousy move not to ask permissions nor give credit.

Man, this site is bigger than I thought... Has a forum, a guestbook. Seems to have its own little community. Dang, and in case there weren't enough rips on it, there is even a Picture Trade forum, where people can request for specific wallapapers...

OK, something has to be done. What?

I can't believe that no one has complained to him regarding their copyright. He must have his head in the sand! Surely SOMEONE must have told him that it's wrong?
I agree with Valhalla, it's just a shame he can't be bothered to give due credit.
Why do people do this?

There's even Jafo's fighter plane wall on there!!!! Now he's done it!!
Go get him Paul..........

And verily, the Observer DID smote him, his flowing silken robes did blow about his body as he strode into the arena, fear glistened on the assembled throng, mirroring the glisten of the mighty blade carried by the Observer. He approached the fallen one, never faltering in his stride, the blade tore the air violently as it curled above his hooded countenance, and with a blow as sure as nightfall the transgressor was removed silently and dispassionately from this mortal coil. The crowd inhaled as one, then cries of joy did rent the air as they rejoiced at the removal from their sacred ground of another brazen fool.
Fear the Observer, I beseech you gentle reader, for we all fall under his gaze................

I hope this is how it goes!

Hey...that is my joke XP wall....it was only posted here at Wincustomize......maybe it was on the first CD....but it wasn't on here for long.

Did someone say it only had quality walls?
Mine was intentionally crap....

Anyway, if we need him to pull these walls because he has no permission, then so-be-it....

My email....

It has come to my attention, and to that of many other artists in the on-line graphic art community that your site is hosting and displaying our works without our approval.
It is in violation of Artists' intellectual copyright to disseminate another's work without express permission.
Although it 'may' be seen as a compliment to their endeavours, a tribute, perhaps, it is, in fact an offence. It is theft of copyright.

Now, before you respond that I know nothing, that I am mistaken, take note.....
At least one of my works is currently being displayed here without my permission.
This permission will NOT be forth-coming, as the piece in question was for a specific temporary purpose and was withdrawn by me from public display.
I specifically do NOT give you permission to display this work, and request that you remove it immediately.

If you perhaps question my authorship I can provide any and every proof you need....from the tattoo on my shoulder that matches the aircraft's logo to my original water colour painting [done in 1972] from which I created the digital manipulation.

That one is mine.
Remove it.

Oh, what a wonderful world!

Did I said that before?

Is there anyone who can tell me, how you make some of your text looking white?

I think it's interesting that he doesn't have any walls from Layne Karkruf who sells his wallpapers on his own website. Maybe this guy feels that work that gets posted on 'skins' sites for free is open to redistribution.

Layne has a lot of very visible notices on his site about not reposting his work anywhere. Here and on the other skins sites there aren't any visible notices about intellectual property rights or redistribution policies.

Good point david, maybe we should follow Layne's lead and put a highly visible warning on our front page?

There's always the possibility that he hasn't dicovered Layne's work yet.

Oh my, I know this page for such a long time now... Didn't know, he doesn't have any permission... The site is really almost a "who is who" in wallpapers... I was a bit confused, when I saw the sountox-wallpaper there yesterday... Hmmm...
OK....the tattoo is actually my 'Jafo' man as seen in my WB screenshots.
Although I like XP as an OS, I'm not entirely mad....

Pity the site is such a large, well managed repository of stolen art though...

As long as he's not claiming to be the author of the walls, I'd hesitate to call him a thief... Misguided fan would be more like it

Did you notice in that site, that the "Sputnik" wallpaper by Nuvem, has been converted to Windows XP wallpaper!

There are 12 of my wallpapers there, hmm, at least not all.
