WC's servers are in the process of changing locations. Certain sections of the site have had to be taken down temporarily to ease the bandwidth load.

The site should be back to normal sometime between this week and the next, according to what I've read.

nevermind...i uninstalled desktopX..it looks to be cumbersome and it isnt designed well at all. and those skins that are included isnt going to help sell desktopX to ANYONE..they are a joke.

peepod, I think you need to use the software for more than 31 minutes to make a statement like that. DX Themes are available on other sites such as Skinz, DeviantART, and Skinbase to name a few.

ok i take back the part about it being not designed well...but it is cumbersome and the included "demo" skins are jokes and are not impressive at all compared to when i downloaded windowblinds for the first time...it blew my mind the first couple of skins i used..it had EXCELLENT demo skins to let you see what was in store for you when you bought the full version...and just those demos alone made me purchase my windowblinds....that is what is missing in desktopX....WHOEVER it was that decided the cartoon skin was a "good" demo was out of there friggin mind...and the other ones are no better. maybe i'll download and give it another shot if stardock, object desktop...whoever decides to quit cheaping out and puit the download on one of their servers BESIDES zdnet...which takes for friggin ever to download...and adds a few more impressive desktopX skins....then myself and others might be more inclined to give it more of a shot than what i gave it...all of 30 minutes...totally unimpressive in the method of downloading it,and it's current demo skins.

also just so you know..i'm not the only one of the opinion that the download site is HORRIBLE...check out the user reviews at http://download.cnet.com/ for desktopX...it's a poor rating...i'm using charter @home access and it is STILL sloooow

Talk to ZDNet then. They're the ones hosting it.

peepod : I think, You will change Your mind completely, when You get Your hands on the themes and objects hosted here and on other places. DesktopX and WindowBlinds are running constantly here on my machine. And no unsolvable problems. Some people especially the ones saying OD apps crash their machines should check their loisy machine-setups before installing any new software... Not to mention the really premier support stardock and the users give in the newsgroups. c242 [Who has enough of people whining about Stardock-apps crashing their machines completely...]

Peepod: I agree with c242. I used to be a dedicated Litestepper, but now I run Desktop X exclusively. It has never crashed once, and once you discover the vast array of brilliant themes, and how easy it is to change them and get your computer working just how YOU want it to, you won't want to change it back, believe me. Just give it a chance, wait until you have tried a few themes and different looks, and I'm certain you will be back for more.

Umh, I forgot something. peepod : Don't take the last paragraph personally, I just read the bad reviews on ZDNet and I am sort of angry about some unreflected crap there...

well i never go by to many peoples reviews as far as a product i may by is concerned(especially if i can download, and try it out)...i love windowblinds and frankly was going to upgrade imediately to XP..now i dont have to right away ..but the reviews that do catch my eye are the download speeds for the servers/sites that host them...i dont want to wait alllll day on a download(especially when i'm using broadband)..zdnet should be ashamed.
