Are you talking about the WebView items? (Such as the logo that appears when you open your Windows folder)

If so, any paint program will do the trick, provided it can save gif images. As for replacing the default images with your own creations, you'll need an utility like Desktop Architect, which you can find at http://www.desktoparchitect.com/index.php

The original files are in the c:\windows\web folder. The image that appears in the standard folder is called wvleft.bmp, the one that appears when you open the Windows folder is called wvlogo.gif, and the line that appears below the folder name in the standard folders is called wvline.gif.

Warning: The files don't seem to show up when you look for them by normal means. Use a file viewer to find them.

btw, Desktop Architect has Webview items for Win98, Me, and 2000. So if you can't find them in the windows\web folder, just look in the DA folder.

The left panes are just HTML pages, and you can edit them with notepad. They all have the .HTT extension.
