Generally at worst it is the same...but can be better as it can make use of Acceleration capabilities of the modern 3D graphic card which the XP default skin 'engine' cannot...

Of course it uses some ram but not much. My system says 1.656 KB... My point, you can't tell the difference. Alienware is going to pack their new configurations with WindowBlinds since their tests show greater performance with WindowBlinds installed...

Also, as a side note, the built-in XP theme engine does use RAM too as it's a service running in the bg.
Most people who use WB turn off that service as it's no longer needed if you're using Windowblinds

they do?

I didn't even know that was a possibility. Any more info available on doing this?

Tiggz... Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Themes...... Stop the service, and Disable.

Powered by SkinBrowser!

I never knew that either, thanks for the tip...

I checked the RAM after I did this, and it was about 5% lower than I last remember it, so it's either because of that or because I'm using Firefox now...

Any program that you use on your computer is going to use up some system resources... Disabling the built in theme manager is a great way to free up some system resources for windows blinds. From what I have seen on my system, it would appear that windowblinds uses the same amount of system resrouces as windows will use for its own theme manager.
