Peculiar Deceleration Values

Anyone happen to know why all the deceleration values for ships are numbers like 9.99998 or 49.999992?

If, say, such values were changed to "nice" numbers like 10 or 50, would something go haywire?

I suppose in the grand scheme of things it hardly matters since .000001 is negligible...nevertheless, I'm still curious....

You can make the same argument for the damage values, as well.  It's just how they fine tuned it.

I set one of our ships to have an acceleration rate of exactly 6, it blew up

Yeah--playing with some of the strike craft values bjorks them badly as well.  It's an enigma, wrapped in a mystery and packaged in a peculiarity while displayed in the window of the oddity shop.

so it's not a bug, it's now a feature?  lol

its the convert to text and to bin arguments. Some number values need to be converted to 6 decimal places and the converter does not differentiate between different types of values so it does them all to 0.000000.

myfist0, would you mind explaining a bit more what you mean?

I might have an idea what you are talking about, but not sure....
