Halloween Deal! Acronis True Image Home 2012 - Get 50% Off!

Everyone knows I believe Acoronis’ backup software to be the “Gold Standard”  of backup and recovery software. No discussion about that.

Here’s a great, scary Halloween deal!

For half price of Acronis you’ll get that AND -  Malware’s Anti-Malware PRO for FREE!

Please note: If you use PayPal: Your order MUST BE PAID by 10/31 or it will not be delivered

Oh yes….  Once again the Community owes yrag a “Thanks, yrag”

He sent me this so he won’t need the Forum signature he asked Jafo for:  “What? You didn’t backup? You  #%*&@$&  idiot!”

Thanks, bud. For all you do.

Interesting deal for a great product.

But, having read the info, can anyone tell me in plain English what this would give me over the 2010 version I already have? It's just there, working in the background, no issues at all.

just pre-ordered.... thanks yrag and doc...  :)

Thanks for the link.

Changes in scheduler — added two options:
1. "startup delay", which allows for the running of tasks on a computer start with delay.
2. "retry on failure", which performs several retries to complete a task before it is declared failed;

This makes the upgrade worth it

Ordered mine today.  Really great deal!

I ordered mine and got the Acronis deal but the MalwareByte's deal was pulled.

Bummer. No email to that effect. Maybe due to time zone stuff? They're located in San Jose, CA... you'd have to ask Acronis about it, though.

Just checked my email. Got a second one from Acronis offer good until 10/31 midnight... but the Malwarebytes offer (see OP screenshot) is gone.

I know that doesn't make you feel any better, bud... but at least you know it ain't the size of your feet that did it. ;)

Looks like I picked it up right in time...I got in on the deal yesterday afternoon and the MalwareByte's was still included.

I jumped in last night and the deal was gone oh dog pooh!

Anyway I use MS Security Essentials and MalwareBytes for scanning so no big loss.  Still I got a good deal.

Thanks for posting this.

And on a related note I currently have just 1 internal WD 1TB Cavier Black Sata 3 HD and I'm thinking what should I do for a backup drives.  Saw a 1TB Verbatim USB 3 drive with 7 year limited warranty considering it.

Any other suggestions?

I'd say look for your deals on Newegg. They have ratings... and you can always get a quickopinion here on the site... I'm not the hdd expert but starkers knows a good deal, BDBF and he has a heart of gold. Other people's gold ( ;) ) what with him being the Cap'n.

The other good resource are the gamers since many of them build their own machines... pop over to Elementals Forum and ask... they won't bite. Much. ;)

Due to the recent flooding in certain Asian countries hard drive prices are going to be skyrocketing because the flooding has shut down production quite a bit. The situation isn't likely to return to normal until maybe next year. A Samsung F3 1TB that would have cost £50 over here before is now going for just shy of £100. I expect the cost of external hard drives will also have been affected. A quick look on Newegg shows your choices could be limited. If you want products with plenty of reviews and a good rating there's only THIS and THIS, and the latter is out of stock at the moment.

Would you be content to use an internal drive, and if so, what speed would you want, 7200rpm or 5400rpm? The 5400rpm drives are obviously slower, but they also use less power and are generally quieter.

Nothing wrong per se with an internal hdd, just make sure of your power supply (in externals it's independent). As for speed? Up to you. I would think it depends on what you plan to put on it... games faster, data, etc. slower.

ummm... did the serial keys ever get sent out?...  :\

Syd - I feel awful this has gone somehow awry.  8C

Did you check the "spam" folder of the email you used to order?

When you purchased, you must have gotten an order confirmation. Please don't forget to include that number when you write.

Please give me some follow up on this.... Ok?

not your fault doc... easily fixed up... ;)

was just paying cc and the purchase reminded me..... had checked spam, not there...

Any other suggestions?
End of BigDogBigFeet's quote

Just about any HD would be fine these days....last time I can recall a disaster of a HD was IBM's 'BigFoot' .... the size of a CD drive [but half height] ... they fell over in droves, killing IBM's HD reputation with them.

For backup-storage external is ideal as it can be 'locked away' and [more] protected from theft...;)
