Compatibility (XP -> 7)

Is it possible?

I'm finally making the transition to Windows 7 when I build my next computer. I've used Windows XP this entire time, and I love the theme I use for it (Islander Aquatic). My question is, is it possible to use this theme in Windows 7 (with some modifications of course)? I can't find anywhere saying it won't work, but nowhere does it says it will, either.

Most windowblinds would be usable, I would think, on 7, with some modifications. These mods may not be easy though, unless you're good with SKS.

Even if you found someone saying it works what you really need to do is download and try it yourself.  Like RedneckDude said, most WBs will be usable.  You have to see if the parts that don't are an annoyance enough to not use the skin.

Some skinners have and are updating their old WBs to work on Win 7, some are not or have left the community.

I tried searching for the WB Islander Aquatic in the WC Gallery Library and didn't find it.

Ahhh, looks like you just joined today, where did you download the WB from?

@RD, if it doesn't work very well, would it be a better idea to fix it, or literally remake it using the original assets? For personal use only, of course.

@Philly, search for Islander on DeviantART. I joined the forums just for this post, used WB for years.

Fix it, of course. That way, the original artist's vision remains mostly intact.  JMO.

How would I go about fixing it? I've never actually made my own WB before. Also, what would be some things to look our for (start menu clipping perhaps)?

Just found out that he officially ported it to Vista. Do you think the Vista version will work well in 7? I'd assume so.

That is usually true. Most Vista skins look ok on 7. There is sometimes a difference in the logoff/shutdown buttons though. And since Vista isn't made with the fat taskbar, there may be a discrepancy there. Most will be fine.

I'll end up setting 7 to never combine never stack and small icons anyways, to make it more like XP/Vista. The theme should look fine.
