OK... no DNA found. Just nucleobases found in meteorites since the '60's,

"Meteorites with components of DNA have been found since as far back as the 1960s. However, it was always unclear as to whether the DNA building blocks were created in space or if they came from contamination on Earth. Now, for the first time ever, scientists have three lines of evidence confirming that the DNA in the meteorites actually originates from deep space." - Geek.com (ext. link)

Again, no actual DNA found. The reporters didn't understand the article well...

So what are the 3 lines of evidence?

1. The nucleobases found are similar to but not identical with the ones found here on earth.

2. The meteorites tested were found in the Arctic and in Australia and the earth from those places had no nucleobase analogues in them.

3. The nucleobase analogs were probably formed from reactions with Hydrogen Cyanide gas (quite plentiful in space) and confirmed by reactions done in the labs of those who published these findings. This tends to confirm that the source of the nucleobase analogues was extraterrestrial.

So where's RavenX when I need him? I hope he's well... and not in pain. Doc waves to ya, mate! You haven't been forgotten.

All this just made me think of him and of:

So in a relative manner of speaking this led you to think of Ben Cartwright, which leads one to Adam, Hoss, and LilJoe. Now we know that Adam was played by Pernell Roberts who in turn played the role of Trapper John MD long after his stint with Hawkeye Pierce. Once can only deduce by this thinking that you have a longing for home brewed fire water or hot nurses running amok in tents!

Ummm... no.

While your thought has all the virtues I dislike, it has none of the vices I truly admire.  ;)

Actually... I read the article and it made me remember that I haven't seen hide nor hair of RavenX in quite awhile... the last being on his thread about a similar topic.

He was in a good deal of pain, needing surgery and having problems with his health insurance (Medicaid if memory serves) and with having enough to live on.

And I thought of the old BSG theme... so I wrote this hoping folks would rally for ol' RavenX.... while arguing about Starchild DNA or whatever.

Where are we from?
We originate from space. Landed here a few 100 million years ago in an asteroid/comet.
That's my beliefe.

The movie 'Mission to Mars' is a great example of a 'documentary' on how we got here, imo.

Maybe not specifically from Mars... but the Panspermia theory is attractive... and since atoms are identical everywhere, then who's to say where one is from or not?

Yes, according to our scientists, but who says they are right?

Same goes for their definition of 'life'. Whenever scientists discuss life in space, they always say that water needs to be present because it's essential to life - yes, AS WE KNOW IT!!
I always feel like bitch-slapping them when I hear that nonsense. How the hell can they in their right "brilliant" minds claim that their definition of 'life' is universal?!?
That friggin pisses me off.

There may be life out there that doesn't need neither air nor water.

Atoms have an atomic number and weight. If they do not correspond to those known to us, they would not be the same elements, but rather something else... and would be called something else.

So, in that respect, they are right.

As for water? Perhaps not, but I would hold off saying they're right or wrong.

We base all our best guesses on what we know...it's what we don't know that going to bite us in the ass. Then it'll be Holy Crap! I never thought of that!

Wouldn't it be great if when we die we get ushered into a room somewhere and were handed a book and all the answers are there...Who killed Kennedy  *_* Is there life out there?  :cylon: How close was our best guess?  Tomorrows winning lottery number.  Yesterdays winning lottery number...no you didn't win then either. XO What did she mean when she asked the question... o_O Basically I don't think the question will ever be answered. We may think we got it...but did we?  8O

I'm from Brooklyn.

starkers was hatched when a buzzard flew over Oz and pooped him out.

DrJBHL was invented by Hippocrates.

Jafo was the buzzards pilot.

Sidneysiders stepped in it.

2of3 didn't add up.

WebGizmos still resembles it.

Nimbin forgot the patent #.

Phoon phoned home and got a busy signal.

Navigatsio was the first navigator hence his nic.

Snowman cried when the glaciers melted.

Tazgecko is waiting for the warmer months so he can go fishing.

Wizard 1956 had the answer but his avatar stole the magic wand.

So where did we come from......disneyworld and where are we going bonkers
