Problem with CursorXP Trails

I have the paid for version of Cursor XP. I downloaded/unzipped 4 trail zips and their contents show up in my file manager. Yet when I right click on my Cursor XP icon/configure/trail/image list, none of the new trails are in there to use. Rebooted 2x with no success. CursorXP Guide & FAQ no help. My Particles sub-folder is empty, yet when I moved one of these newer trails in there (thinking I could then access it via config screen), this newer trail still didn't show up in image list. Any suggestions?

Do you have this folder and is that were you unzipped them to? C:\Program Files\Stardock\CursorXP\Trail

Yrag - I originally installed Cursor XP in another partition, and the themes installed on that partition with no problem. Figured I'd have no problem installing the trails either, but I was wrong.

I saw the entry in C:\Pro Files but didn't give it another thought until I tried your suggestion - which worked. I extracted the zips in the Pro Files folder. My trails now show up in config/trail/image and I can change to any one I want.

Isn't it something that the themes will work properly when executed from another drive, but not the trails.

Thanks for your help.

As I thought more about trails and partitions, I don't remember having any problems placing trails in its proper home on my other partition - until - I updated to version 1.30.014, updated on 3/18/04. I don't want to uninstall & reinstall CXP to a previous version - I'll just have to remember to install trails in Program Files on C, rather than on my other partition.

Dovelady, try putting the png in the Trails sub-directory (not particles). I have CursorXP, with all the themes, trails, etc. on my E Drive and it works OK. I tried installing a new trail today (to check on your problem) and I mistakenly told it to install to E:\Programs\CursorXP\Trails and it made a new Trails sub-directory. I moved the png back up to original the Trails directory, Deleted the extra directory, and was able to access and apply the trail.

Hope this helps.

Jebland - I originally did extract to the Trail folder - but I'm always willing to try it again. So I downloaded another trail zip and extracted it to my CXP/trail folder on my G drive.

The thing is, is that I can 'see' these newly extracted .png/trails in my file manager (Power Desk), yet when I try to access them via the config/trail/image menu, they don't show up there for me to use.

Nothing changed this time either. Once I extracted the same zip to its default location in C:\Pro Files, then went to CXP config/trail/image, there they were, all ready for me to use.

I don't know why this has happened, because I can extract & use all CXP themes with no problem in their location on G:\. Something happened with this newer update, wherein I can no longer extract/use any trail zips in my G partition. Go figure.

Thanks for trying.

Maybe Powerdesk is the issue. I access my CursorXP themes and trails from Control Panel/Mouse and they show up there just fine.

Sorry I couldn't help. >

Jebland, I appreciate your help. The fact that you tried is what counts.
