Transparent system tray

I'm trying to create a transparent system tray but does anyone know if this is possible? It would seem that whatever color is found is being used as the bg, and if you have a transparent png nothing shows...not even the icons!

Is there a way around this?

DesktopX2. Give it a try create a blank png then use it as the background for a system tray object.

Yeah, you're right. The icons inherit the translucency on the systray background. If the tray has o% opacity, the icons will be the same. If the tray has 50% opacity, the icons will follow.

So in other words, it's not possible to create a systray bg that's invisible?
meh, back to the drawing board.
I need to stop using DX, I keep running into limits...

Just had a thought, does this do the same thing with a bg made with "magic pink"? In theory this should work as the bg is not transparent so there is 100% opacity. Can anybody confirm this? (I would try this myself but i'm away from my machine with DX installed)

Magic pink works, except for one little problem................. some icons will have a fuzzy pink shadow/outline.

Koasati - so it does...why's that then? Something to do with alpha blended XP style icons and DX overlaying them _before_ it looks for which bits to then make transparent?

I suppose the answer to the initial question then:

Is there a way around this?

...is "No"....unless you want to use magenta wallpaper to disguise it
