Troubleshooting a router

So I am pulling my hair out over this issue. It happens when I host games or I try to connect to games. I get a very generic "Cannot connect to server" error message. After many hours I only was able to bypass it by plugging my modem directly into my computer (taking my router out of the loop). I really would prefer not to have to do this.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I tried using the guide by Monk but I must not be doing something right because the error message still appears.

I'm 95% sure this is a port issue, most likely you didn't forward your ports properly.

Things to check:

Make sure your computer can access the internet

Make sure you have the correct ports forwarded to the correct IP (your computers LAN IP can change)

Make sure you have no firewall on your PC blocking sins

Easy solution to be able to play online:

Have host turn alloy on

Alloy is a feature of Ironclad Online they implemented for people that have trouble forwarding ports.

You turn it on in the host setup tab of ICO.

Are you trying to play by IP or over ICO?
