deleting old desktop icons

i have downloaded the splinter cell skins, but my old icons remain on the wallpaper. How do i delete these icons?

click once on them then press delete if you want to delete the icon off your desktop. if a dialogue pops up saying something about a shortcut and add/remove programs just click the delete shortcut button on the bottum (it will just get rid of the icon and not the program)

I am not exactly sure what you are asking though.
