Included skins don't work
It seems that none of the included skins (e.g. Aero Metals, Aero Woods, etc.) work. Why not? And, why are they included in the program?
Stardock will be closed for the week starting on Monday, June 29th and we will be returning on Monday, July 6th. We will be monitoring support tickets and forums during this time but expect delays in responses during this time.

they work what is you pc info
try reinstalling WB's
I have a Win7 64 bit and they don't work. They can't be dl'd from the website because they only come with the program.
I've even looked in the folders and the contents don't look the same as those skins that do work.
open Wb click on About WindowBlinds tab at top then click the button at bottm Copy to clicpboard and past here...
try reinstalling WB's
they do work so they have had to have been corupted ...
If you do Uninstall WB FIRST copy ALL your Skins in the skins folder to a new place exepted for the ones not working
that way you will not have to sit there clicking on a lot of skin installers to reinstall all the skins you have inslalled
then after you reinstall WB then all you would have to do is copy all the skins back to the skins folder and if you have any that say this is all ready in the folder DO nOT COPY that one or Ones back to the folder cause those would be the ones that come with WB OH and restart PC before reinstalling WB and might be agood ideal to run Ccleaner after uninstal of WB....
Here is the info from the program:

cool now all we (you) need is someone that know how to read this I do see that WB is installed correctly but the skins could (Sound like they are corrupted)
I would uninstall if you realy want to use them if not just Delete them
if you do reinstall I would say Make a copy of the Folder and save it else where after install so that way if the one that are shiped with WB ever get Corrupted again you will have a back up without having to uninstall...
How do reinstall?
to uninstall
go to START MENU click on Control Panel click Programs and Features look for WindowBlinds in the list then run Ccleaner it's free and VERY good to have
then restart PC
to install
open Impluse go to my software tab at top look for WindowBlinds double click on it done you will have to restar PC again then Done
Remember to copy all your Skins to a new location
how to
open your (C:) then at top left click on Organize Click on Folder and Search Options then Click View tab then look for (Show Hidden Files,Folders, and Drives) put a check next to it
Click OK
the go to this location
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Stardock\WindowBlinds
you can save them all to a new location JUST remember to click skip to all when it tells you this folder already have this file (folder) or something like that
then open WB's and click on one or more of the skins that was not loading before REMEMBER do not let it copy the ones back to WB that comes with it just copy the one you installed it will let you know..
you do have the paid version right?
Thanks a lot disturbed! All the included skins work now! In fact, by using control panel, all my skins I already had stayed and the reinstall seemed to correct the included ones. Or something was missing in those. In any event, they do work now. In the future if I do find something missing in a particular skin (e.g. a wallpaper) I'll simply go to where I copied that folder and copy it to the actual WB folder. Right now, I'm using Aggressor and will go back and use one of the included ones tomorrow. The only problem with those is that they don't come with walls but that's a minor problem.
Yes, I have the paid version. In fact, I have quite a few premium WBs from some of the masters (e.g. V O X, Challenger, Charger, etc). They all remained too. It seems that the reinstall only corrected the included skins and left everything else alone. Thanks again.
Welcome
Glad you got it all working
now that you got them all working you did REcopy your skin folder right? that way the ones that come with WB you'll have them to
Note on the Wallpaper some skins do have 1 or so BUT some don't load with the skin you have to go find it and apply it yourself
do you use any other SD programs like ObjectDeskTop? if so you can save those skins too that way IF you ever have to reformat your PC you wont have to click a Millon times to get them all back..
just keep them some where other then you (C:) drive
now that you got them all working you did REcopy your skin folder right?
Like I said, I didn't have to because they all stayed there, including the premium WBs. Reinstalling merely corrected the problems with the included skins and kept all my other skins intact. For example, I'm using Aggressor just like before. If I do come across any missing pieces, like a wallpaper, I'll simply copy it from folder that I have on the C drive. And, I do use a backup program, Acronis.
cool
Well, it was working last night before I shutdown my computer. Then, this morning after starting up, they don't work. I have no idea why this is so but I have to ask again why these blinds are included if they act like this. I can't be the only person that has had this problem. That would be too weird.
did what I said in reply # 8
DON"T SKIP ANY OF IT....
Those skins you mentioned aren`t WB skins at all. They are Aero (default Vista and Win7 GUI) with added texture not skins built with their own graphics.
Why they didn`t work, I don`t know.......
It seems I have stumped the techs at Stardock. I submitted a support ticket on this problem and they told me to verify the WB installation thru Impulse. I did and it verified that it was correctly installed. That was Monday and since I told them that, they have not responded.
After talking to the SD techs, they asked me if the included skin is a uis0 or uis2. I didn't know this distinction so I checked and some of the included skins are uis0 (e.g. aero wood) and others are are uis2 (e.g. sabertooth). The uis2 skins work but the uis0 skins don't. I told them that. I'm waiting for their reply to this.
I think I replied to you earlier today. UIS 0 skins work differently than UIS2, in that they are just a texture replacement and not replacing the whole UI. This could be easily affected by other theming software, are you running any?
Also, something I just realized I left out of the ticket. Are you running with Aero glass enabled? I think the Aero Basic won't work with UIS0.
Hi Shirley, What do you mean by Aero Glass enabled? Where do I enable that?
I googled this aero glass enabling and found some answers that basically had me check the windows experience index. I did so and it's a 5.0. So, that means aero glass is enabled. I'm not running any other theming software either. Bottom line is that uis0 skins just don't work for me. At least not after restarting my computer. I've reinstalled WB a few times now and each time I do, the uis0 skins work until I restart my computer. Very weird.
To display Aero effects such as transparency in Windows 7, follow these steps:
Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects
5. An “Aero – Troubleshoot computer problems” wizard dialog will appear. Click on Next button.
6. The troubleshooting wizard will try to detect any problem by running a series of checks against various components required to make Aero works and running, such as video memory, Desktop Windows Manager (DWM) service, color depth, theme, power settings and etc. At the end of the analysis, the wizard will attempt to fix the issues related to Aero service and restart the Aero feature.
Tip: If there is still items that are marked with Red Cross which indicates is the problems that prevent Aero from working properly, fix the issues and then rerun the “Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects” troubleshooting wizard again.
Tip: To create a shortcut to ‘Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects’, right click on it on search results, and then click on Open file location. On the “All Tasks” window opened, right click on Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects again, and select Create Shortcut to place the shortcut on desktop.
DC: I did all that and I don't have any problems/issues with my Aero.
If it makes you feel any better bachbeet, none of the UIS0 skins work on my Windows 7 64-bit either.
