my spec:
msi ms-6570 m/b (nforce2 chipset)
athlon xp2800
1024mb pc2700(333)ddrram
xfx geforce fx 5950 ultra (256mb)

although i have an ok spec, when i run my custom desktop (windows blinds,object dock, winbar, rainlander) my pc runs like sh*t (cpu rockets to 100% usage, whenever i start an app). Am i using too many desktop cutomise programs? has anyone got any solutions or tips?, thankyou all

In Task Manager shut down each program and check after closing each until you find the CPU hog. Do not shut down any system services, just programs. Take a look at the programs running and make sure something odd isn't running...by odd I mean an .exe running that might be a virus, trojan or worm.

i ran norton, nothing out of the ordinary found though :-s, couldnt really see anything 'odd' in my task manager too...

Did you shut down proggies one at a time so see which one was eating up your CPU clocks?

A likely culprit may be one of the docklets in ObjectDock. Try deleting them, then reloading them one at a time and see what happens

Try unloading ObjectDock. That may be the problem for you. It was for me so I stopped using it. It's difficult to know exactly what the problem is without seeing your task manager, and the programs running on your system. I would check for spyware too. That can slow down your system. Run Spybot, its always a good idea when your computer starts slowing down.
