Map, Pirates

How soon can you fight them?

Ok, hey guys.

I'm in the middle of creating an epic 8-player map, which gives you a massive starting position to really entrench yourself in, before travelling to the central star which most of the battles (will/should?) happen in.

To get to this star, you need to pass through a Pirate Base. I ask of you: Would it be possible/plausible to attack/defeat a Pirate Base with mid-game level equipment (about the level you get Interstellar Jumps at), especially with nil experience Capitals?

(NB:This is also intended to help broach the 6k-population thing)

(NNB: The pirates are Interstellar.. they can't get to anyone without you coming to them first)

Maybe you want to upgrade your fleet. I have done it with one lv 6 cap before

Oh and how many pirates are there?

Yeah its possible if you have a descent sized fleet if the pirate base as not grown due to leftover raids returning. Basically just let the pirates always attack you and not the AI to insure that the pirates never grow beyond a certain point.

If the pirates are disabled and they don't get upgrade, then yes.  The pirates can easily be overwhelmed by a relatively small force of mid-tier units with the proper support.  Vasari might have a little trouble, but nothing unachievable (plus the map you describe greatly favours Vasari anyways).  If you have pirate raids enabled, the pirates will get stronger over time, and that might present a challenge.  However, Advent and Vasari should have no problem clearing the base with minelayer antics, and TEC should be able to push through with sufficient numbers.

Pirates don't get upgrades if they don't get cash.
