Duke Nuken Forever Trailer

It seems Duke Nuken Forever is really happening. The latest trailer shows off a lot of cool stuff really fast, and packs in some good humour as well. Definately not for the children, though.

One thing I noted from the trailer is that the game feels dated... and yet, I'm totally Ok with that. It's weird. The graphics aren't mind blowing, the set pieces don't look like something that takes 12 years to make, and there doesn't appear to be any major gameplay developments that are going to take FPSs to the next level; and yet I still want it. The tone is perfect, the action bombastic and ultimately it's everything I wanted Duke Nukem Forever to be: a love letter to shooters from the by-gone era where the Shooting was what took focus, instead of today's shooters were it's 90% non interactive scripted Scenes and 10% game.

Hail to the king, indeed.

What blows my mind is just what was happening when Duke Nukem Forever was getting hyped.

Resident Evil? Hexen II? Holy crap, it really has been twelve years.

Great trailer, thanks for the post. Looking forward to this one, I'm getting it. Also a big Borderlands fan. And Rage by Id is coming along presently.

One thing to be cautious about. Borderlands looked really good in trailers and early game play videos. But when it came out it was cross platform and trimmed down even in the PC version to fit into console technology. DNF is also cross platform, so keep your finger's crossed. I hope what we are seeing is the game itself and not a developer's cut from a prototype.

The old Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition is still playable with a bit of work. GoG sells it for $6 and has a link to a high resolution mod among others. eDuke32 also works with the GoG edition.

Those graphic mods look sweet. So nostalgic for me to think about Duke Nukem. Just imagine all the kids going "Duke who?"

They should have had cooler music and his voice should be darker like in Duke Nukem 3D.

Yep, the trailer and the game is basically 100% fan service.. they didn't do much new stuff, and instead it looks like they just brought back the old Duke into the modern era. And I'm totally fine with that
