Display Properties and IconX

I have two problems.
I have full Objectdesktop registration and am running XP Home.

(1) I cannot Save a preset setting in IconX. The button has no
effect.
(2) Display Properties complains I have the Shareware version
(I don't) eg on pressing Subdesign button.

open stardock central. go to the programs click on desktopx and uninstall it. If it wants you to restart your computer do so. then through stardock central install it fresh.

It sounds like you didn't uninstall the shareware version of desktopx once you got the subscription

Thanks for reply.

I have reinstalled, correctly, both desktopx,
themes manager and windowblinds, unloading,
reverting to windows classic, uninstalling,
rebooting, installing and rebooting and the
problems still persist.

Do you, in fact, have SDC (Star Dock Central) installed and if you do, did you register your Star dock apps in 'Registration Info' in lower right corner of SDC?

Indeed I did. How can I tell from the application
window to whom it is registered? eg my DesktopX
is registered to : Object Desktop.

Forget what the app tells you...the registration is in SDC (and you don't have to have the correct version in for it to take). When you bought these apps did you use the serial #'s and the Download Links in the e-mail(s) that Stardock sent you?

So you have entered the serial number into sdc? If you click on show prereleases what version of iconpackager does it let you download?

my DesktopX
is registered to : Object Desktop.

I am assuming this means you have purchased object desktop

OK...let's try this again...

Where did you download Window Blinds, Theme Manager and DesktopX. I see you have a WC Browser subscription, but did you buy an Object Desktop subscription https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/ or did you buy these proggies individually?

Sorry about time gap. I'm in England.

I bought the whole lot in one go - Object Desktop.

I can download IconPackager 2.49[b].002

I did not buy in from the Stardock Central window as it
did not have the security lock icon. I used IE to get to
the Stardock website to buy online.

A further point is that now, after reinstalling WindowBlinds,
I can no longer skin the left hand side of the XP windows, eg the
shut down one. I could before! I suppose this is a skinning
problem but I recall it was so on the shareware version (?).

Sory about these bits and pieces but I've just
noticed that the toolbar buttons are now unskinned.
They were skinned before reinstalling. My first
registered version of WB was 4.1, now it's 4.2.

#1 Load a skin that has 'Shell Styles' Support and see if it still does it.
#2 You need to install your proggies thru SDC...the only one you said you did that with is IP. It doesn't matter how you bought ODNT, but it still sounds like you have the WB shareware version installed. Make sure you un-installed WB and re-booted and re-installed thru SDC.

I have loaded and used Apollo. I had this on before I
reinstalled WB and it worked OK. After reinstallation it
doesn't. (Btw, the uninstall of WB removed Apollo, but not any of the
other skins!)

I installed everything, including WB, via SDC.

Are there any indications in the file attributes to say
what is correct and what is not?

When you download a skin it will tell you what it supports....you don't happen to have Web Blinds installed, do you?

Standby...I just pulled up Apollo and it supports everything..

Look in SDC...what WB version do you show installed?

I also need to know if you show two entries for WB and the dates to the right of the entry.

OK first things first...that's the wrong version. Should be 4.20a[b].002. In SDC in lower left corner check 'Show Pre-release Versions' and the correct version should now show for update. Update only one of the WB entries...it will be the one dated 1-6-04. Don't worry about the other.

OK I have now updated to the beta version.
As far as I can see nothing has changed.

Doesn't skin toolbars and Control Panel
still insists I have a shareware version.

Control Panel????...there's no reference to any software there...where are you looking?

BTW: you have to set the toolbars (I assume we're still talking about buttons) up in WB config.

Sorry! I meant Display Properties (via Control Panel
or via Theme Manager).

Yes I have set Toolbars, checking the appropriate
boxes. As I said, they worked prior to my first
reinstall.

I didn't think it gave (at least mine doesn't) the version in Display Properties. Before we attempt to do a complete WB un-install, do you have 'premium' skin 'Carbonix' installed? You're a WC subscriber so you should. Load it and tell me what happens.

I cannot find Carbonix. I seem to recall it earlier
but it's not there now.

In Display Properties on the Appearance tab
when I press the Subdesign button a pop-up
appears saying not available on shareware

All the skin folders in /stardock/windowblinds/
are empty of .wba files. All I have are the skins
I downloaded to a different folder.

Sorry mate...had to run an errand...forget Carbonix..that was one I bought (my memory is shot). We're going to completely un-install WB. I want you to un-install it thru SDC and then go to C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\WindowBlinds and delete that folder (it appears you have no skins to save, but if you do move them to a temp folder). Re-boot and open SDC and re-install WB.
BTW: while you're in Program Files....make certain there is not more then one WB folder. You should only have two 'Main' Stardock Folders w/ various proggie folders in them
C:\Program Files\Stardock & C:\Program Files\WinCustomize
