I've tried every graphic setup possible according to what i read here. Nothing works. I have tons of minidumps:

Sins-Diplomacy v1.011-2010-12-28-21-05-23-296-3420

I cant finish a game without crashing. Any help out there before I get mad ?

My comp: AMD Athlon 64, RAM 2GB, Graphic card ATI X1950Pro (i tried any setting even the worst at low res: 1024x768), Windows 7 pro.

Thanks

You can try The Sins Optimization Project

Turn off auto pin, Fleet tree takes a lot of resources, only show what you need

Turn off cargo trade ship icons and reduce exhaust trail

get more ram, Sins can use 2 gigs alone

Well, the minimum specifications for a system to run Windows 7 is 1 gb ram for the 32 bits version and 2 gb ram for the 64 bits version...

So, your real problem is your memory...

If you use a 32 bit OS, install 4 gb ram... for a 64 bits OS, 8 gb ram is a good start... ram is enough cheap...

Your graphic card is enough old, with little own memory... limited to dx9 ( no dx10, dx11 )... minimum of what you need for sins but will have problem with a bunch of recent games...

About your processor, you don't give any information... but since the rest seem to be some low end desktop from 3-4 year ago, maybe it is a problem too... you need minimum 2ghz, a dual core help since sins will use fully a core for itself...

Thanks for your help. I read you were involved in this project.

The whole thing must have been a titan-job. A lot of thanks to people like you and Major Stress.

I downloaded the Trinity TSOP. After I'll have dezipped it, i'll give it a try.

I guess I have to overwrite every file provided by TSOP.

Be sure i'll give some feedback here.

(My processor is an AMD Athlon 64 3700+. I play many games without any crash with this oldtimer. (DOW2 ie))

Thanks again.

TSOP is meant to run as a mod, you should never alter the base game unless its a patch.

Well, i have myself try the TSOP for entrenchment... graphic setting on high, 10 player + pirate and huge random multistar map have lead to a memory use between 500 ( early game ) to 700 mb ram ( late game )...

So, if you have these amount of memory free before launching the game, the TSOP can be your solution... but adding 2 gb ram is really the best option... your mini-dump are certainly due to memory shortage...

I guess I have to overwrite every file provided by TSOP.

Like myfist0 wrote, TSOP is a mod... a few other mod have already include the work done by the TSOP team in their own mod... these mod will maybe run on your system...

My processor is an AMD Athlon 64 3700+. I play many games without any crash with this oldtimer.

One of the last processor with socket 939... cheap upgrade don't exist in these case since the motherboard will need to be changed too... single core at 2.4 ghz... this will not lead to crash but to possible slideshow visual in late game ( or earlier with more player and bigger map )...

Windows 7 is a good OS but more heavy that previous version... a XP pro x64 OS will use fewer memory and resource... and these spared memory/resource can be used for the game itself...

Few games can be compare to sins... in sins, everything is loaded at the start... in a lot of game, a section of the map ( level ) is loaded... when section is done, it is unload and next section is loaded... little map with only 2-4 player will not be a problem with your system ( unless Windows 7 eat to much resource )

Since you have a old low end computer, making too much expense for upgrade it is maybe a bad option... if money is a problem and you don't wish spend a lot of money for a new computer, refurbished professional computer can be a alternative choice for you... by example, a HP xw6400 Workstation, Xeon Dual-core 5160 3.0 ghz, 8 GB ram, 2x73GB 15k SAS drive, DVD, XP pro, etc ... for 360$ at http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=XW6400-XEON30-R&cat=SVR ...
