Is there any way you can use the ResearchFloatModifiers in either an ability or a buff? I'm guessing not, since there is so much overlap between the research modifiers and the entity modifiers - and I've yet to find a syntax that works. I want to be able to apply some of the effects unique to research subjects to individual units.

Not directly. The only thing you can do is find a workaround for each individual effect you want. (Would be weird if you could make an ability increase pop cap, wouldn't it?)

Post your individual ideas if you're stuck, and see if someone can come up with a solution.

There are a few overlapping effects, though I don't know whether damage buffs etc are added up or multiplied (like if you have 50% Phase Missile shield bypass research, and make the Subverter skill reduce Phase Missile block by another 50%, is that a full 100% negation or (1-50%)^2=75%?)
