My WIP or......

How can I get media player to work?

I'm working on my second smx for Boxxi's Black Box Ultimate. Yesterday I managed a major minor upgrade to my laptop. Added one gig of memory to bring it up to three gis and an external hard drive. Western Digital  1 terabyte. I put Photoshop's scratch thingy on it because ac separate physical drive is recommended. So...here I am, stuck with the equivalent of a beta that isn't going anywhere yet. sydneysiders suggested I start a thread so I did. Any suggestions?

The buttons are temporary. I only put them up to test the skin.

Looks almost done! Looks good too.   What is going under the CPU meter?

Close but a bit of a ways to go yet. Under the CPU I had the IP address, date/time. Decided to move them in favor of the e-mail and recycle bin. I thought I had decent buttons made until I put them on the skin. They are so not right. I have another set I'm working on. Mind repeating what you said about the four states for the buttons.

From the Sysmetric Documentation:

Media Player Questions
Q: SysMetrix will bring up Windows Media Player, but none of the controls work - how come?

A: That's because SysMetrix finds out which media player you have associated with .mp3 files, and executes that - which explains why WMP is started up correctly. However, SysMetrix uses the WinAmp2 API to control media players, so currently the supported players are WinAmp2, WinAmp5, QCD Player, CoolPlayer, and Foobar 2000 to a limited extent. I chose to implement that, as it works fantastically with the millions of users who are currently using WinAmp2, as well as those using my favorite media player, QCD Player.

Now you tell me. I was about to 86 the media player buttons and go on to something else.BTW ... the QCD link returns a 404 not found. I know where to go to get it. CNET.com  Will post an update as soon as I get it to go. Thank Xiandi.

Didn't have QCD but I did get Winamp5. Haven't tested it yet but will this afternoon. If all goes well I'll put the screenie here prior to uploading.

just a suggestion..... but could you use the whacky buttons from my Xion skin? They'd be pretty easy to extract. I'll tell you how if you don't know, and if you want to use them.... :)

Send them on! I'd love to check them out. Everything works now. Except the weather. lol Have it running two days now without a problem. Just a tweak here and there. New buttons ... yum.

Uvah: Just download this skin... https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/xion/89/   Once it's downloaded, change the extension from .xsf to .zip...... Then, when you unzip it, you will find a .psd file in there which you can open in Photoshop and take what you like from it.

Have Fun!!  B[]

This is the final version smx. That said this is what I have in mind.

1: On my screen I have another smx called Veristic Colors, a skin that comes with Sysmetrix. I chose this one as an example.

2: Veristic Colors has a function for modules. Each one is a separate color for the clock face. Modules are pretty much like the parent/child connect in some skins.

3: What I propose to do is this. 86 the media section on the smx in favor of a 'control' of sorts for a 'media module'. I like the angle the player is set at but in order to make this work I'll have to change that.

4: I'm assuming the four, or was it three, whatever ... the small rectangles upper right are bar graphs. If not they will be. Bit/rate and sample rate can be displayed, I think, like that rather than in numbers. I've been perusing the documentation for smx and it seems to me that this can be done.

5: Kind of a long list huh. lol. These are just musings. It'll take a while to put it together. In the meantime I'd like to upload the one in the screenshot as Black Box to be followed by Black Box Ultimate (an update). The Ultimate version having the media player as a separate module. Sound good?
